Guideline Violations

Guess as I have tried to make to discussion I inadvertently violated the guidelines here in MyLot. One was for the Ronald McDonald House stating I was in violation for soliciting funds even though I was only making a brief applaud to the services provided there. Another was for the daylight savings time as being a repeat discussion. Guess even the best intentions can sometimes backfire on me as a violation of the guidelines, even though was not intentional. I will just have to keep these in mind when forming a discussion and try not to be in violation of the guidelines. Have you ran into this and how do you avoid the inadvertent violation?

I think it happens to everyone eventually. It is good that you understand the violation and can move on. There aren't any warning you simply loose the discussion and learn from it. All the people that answered it loose too. The Ronnie house is one of those borderline ones that require I think a little careful consideration though it is a wonderful cause. I suspect the whole purpose of having the discussion in the first place would be the reason some stay and some go. What I try to understand is that in order to protect Mylot from all the abuses that might occur there has to be a general guideline on discussions that really apply to everyone. If I am doubtful I look at the Mylot guidelines and try to form my discussion around what someone would like to discuss in general at the very least in the topic starter.

I think no matter who you are, and no matter the amount of time you are a member in myLot you will end up from time to time, having a discussion removed here from time to time. Just try remembering some of the things you .have learned here and hope always for the best.

I think this happens to everyone of us here in mylot. I admit i have had a couple of my own discussions deleted, and some don't have responses. I wonder why delete the ones with the responses and not the ones without?! haha But then yes it sure is a violation and being on mylot somehow for years now taught me to be accepting of the rules of the site. It has never been too bad to me and has been mostly helpful, great and a good companion ;)

I too have a fair share of this violation guidelines, I think it was last year. Even though we have read and understands these guidelines, sometimes we missed too. But for us, it's not intentional. With the thought that it would be deleted, we would not have started it, because it could also affect the posts and the time some members have spent to the said discussion. Anyway, we should be very careful next time.

We have all done it. One of my discussions got deleted a while ago and right after I went back and read the guidelines. I didn't want to make that mistake again! It hasn't happened in a while and I hope it doesn't again. Definitely just make sure to keep the guidelines in the back of your mind when posting. It helps to know them well so things won't be deleted as much. =)

I am not very much particular in any violations here because I am just a newbie and learning how it works. It is a good thing that you brought up something like this so members of the community will be able to take note of this violation. I was notified through my email that the discussion I participated one time was deleted because of some reasons which I think has something to do with the violation of the rules here. I do admire this kind of reminder especially from the administrators of this site because they actually inform you right away about what's going on. You are updated and things become quite clear to you not leaving any cloud of confusion in your head. This might be a good reminder to all of us here. Good thing that you take it very positively. Good day, my friend.

hi steelers why does nobody mention the obvious that the information in the guidelines is meant for us to read and learn and know the rule breakers and thus not make reule b reaking d iscussions because we learned what not t o do in ouy discussions. nobody every mention the guidelines as a tool to USE and KNOWING WHAT VIOLATED THE GUIDELLINES .
