In Today's Scientific World, its is necessary that we do not blindly follow all the superstitions that were handed over to us by our ancestors. we are modern, both in our outlook and the age we are in. Therefore we should have a judicious look for some logical reason behind every superstition before accepting it.
I personally believe that superstitions are unwanted and are based on useless stuffs.
Superstitions have a demoralizing effect on our life. it ends our self confidence. we can not think in a reasonable way. all our thinking and working power gets paralyzed under the influence of unknown fears. We consult priests, pandits, Fakir baba, astrologers and other for making our life lucky. we often use other 'mantras' and spells to ward off evil forces

Hey dpmathur,
i totally agree with your. IN today's scientific world, there are so much stuffs that science can explained. In the past, may things were unexplainable, but now, we have the answers that we need. However, i do have to admit that there are still certain things that science cannot explain.
Still, i'm personally not a very superstitious person. However, i will still follow traditions when i need to especially during festivals.
How about you?

These are wise words. More than ever before, today’s generation is questioning superstitious beliefs. Many have realized that a belief is not true just because it has been handed down by our parents or teachers, whom we respected. Now we understand that each and every belief has to be questioned. A belief is not true just because millions in the world believe in it.
Perhaps the day is not far off when we will be totally rid of superstitious beliefs. Perhaps one day, we will have a practical-minded society which no more will rely on beliefs handed down by ancestors.

Dear dpmathur even some time I do not believe in superstitious because some of my logic do not match with that but in that same case when I meet an senior or older person they made me understand why this happen or what does that mean ? In that case again I agree with that superstitious. I am agree with you that with out having any proper explanation we should not follow any superstitious also we should not be counter any person who follow superstitious because he may having some strong logic behind that which is not in our knowledge.

Hi dpmathur,
Yes, I agree that superstition has no scientific basis at all. They are just belief that was somehow spread and passed down from generation to generation. The first person who started it must have had a strange encounter and experience and it appeared real to him. However for subsequent generation this practice should stop. We can do this by education and enlightenment. But then again supertition is like a bad habit and is not easily overcome. We must try harder. Have a superstition-free day.

Lots of things considered superstitious in the old days become scientific facts when scientists find their scientific logical explanations. I guess someday when science has all the answers to everything there will no longer be any superstition on earth. It may take don't know how long though :)

Me either don't like a superstitious beliefs. It is very popular in my country especially for the older citizen. I agreed to you that superstitious man didn't use his logical reasoning for his decision in life. It seems that they are slave from their belief that anyone fails to see the right things.

as for me, i don't pay attention to these superstitious beliefs, through the years i have seen and believe they not true at all. i believe whatever happens in our life and self is not a result of these things and shouldn't be based in it.
