I always wonder what does Christian means, As we have discussed earlier Jesus Christ never called his disciples christian as they being his followers. So what does one mean when he says he is a christian. Does he mean that he is a follower of Jesus Christ's teachings or a believer who believes that Jesus died in the cross for our sins. I've come across many christian brothers, and from that i can tell all of them have their own beliefs, some believe he is a normal man and some believe is God' son and some believe in what his/her church teaches them. Anyway most of them believe he is God's son sent down to earth for our sins and also most of them do not follow his teachings, as eating pork, consuming alcohol, worshiping idols or images. So are your a christian, then who are you? a follower of Jesus Christ's teaching, a believer who believes in Jesus Christ's divinity or follower of particular church ?

I personally believe on this: Our Lord God the Father Almighty send forth to earth his only begotten son to die on the cross to save us from our sins. That without CHRIST-I AM NOTHING= Christian -this is what it means to be a christian. Living in the world and following the holiness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So are you a true follower of Christ's teachings or not. If you believe that Christ is the only begotten son of Father, send forth to earth to die on the cross for our sins, then why are you not following his, God's only begotten Son's teachings...........

junior, I don't get from pals that he isn't following Christ. It sounds to me like he is. I agree with his post. Without Christ we are nothing and have no future.

The word "Christian" was originally used by the french as a way of mocking those who followed the teaching of Jesus and it means 'little Christ'. Christians liked it so much that kept it, before that time, followers of Jesus would just say that they are "of the way". This refers back to when Jesus said, "I am the truth, the life, and the way". (John 14:6). The problem you are facing is that the word 'christian' is loosely translated by most people (especially Americans). Catholics, Mormons, and Jehovah witness all believe themselves to be Christians. People in America think that they are Christian if: they are American, if their parents go to church, if they believe in god, and a lot of other nonsense. the other problem is that Christians do not even know what it is to be christian. They thin that they said a prayer once, and they go back to they was life was before. The truth is it is not a one time decision, it is a change in life style, the reason is because Christians look at the last thing that Jesus told his disciples as a great commission. They say it is this, "go into the world and make disciples." So they think what they need to do is just tell people about Jesus and his sacrifice. in truth, what Jesus said was , “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mathew 28:18-20). we need to teach people how to be a christian or risk loosing them to ignorance. Hope that helps

Knowing Jesus is God's Son doesn't make you a Christian. The devils know and tremble. I am a Christian because I confessed Christ's name before men and have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
