Do you still buy magazines?

When I was younger, I used to subscribe to teen magazines such as Candy and Meg. In fact, I even want to work for magazines although I didn't push through and chose a different path instead. With the advancement of technology and the utilization of Internet, some magazines already have their online edition where readers can access it in their IPad or any other tablet. However, there are still publications who regularly publish their monthly edition. To be honest, I stopped buying magazines and is only able to read whenever I go to the salon or get my nails done. Otherwise, I won't spend hundred or so pesos and buy one for myself. My collection of magazines during my teen yeats were even sold in the junkshop since it only accumulates dust in the house. Do you still buy magazines for your personal use? Do you think magazines are still worth buying? Let me read your thoughts! :)

I still buy them. It's easier for me to read hard copies than soft copies And it's convenient too. I can just leave the magazine anywhere. With a tablet or an e-reader or any gadget, it would be unwise to leave it anywhere But I guess I still appreciate printed photos than those I see on a screen. That's actually one of the main reasons I buy magazines. I don't keep them for long though. After 2 years, I dispose of them. There's still a market for back issues of magazines.

There are buyers out there, usually those that sell second-hand books and stuff. But I usually sell it during garage sales. My friends and I have garage sales twice a year. It's really a good way to dispose of stuff we don't need anymore, and we get money out if it too.

That's true. At least you don't have to worry about leaving the magazines anywhere since it's less expensive. I didn't know about the place where back issues can be sold. I sold mine in a junk shop a few years ago. Had I known about it, I would have sold it there as well since the magazines I bought are in a very good condition.

We stopped doing garage sales for a few years already. But I remember when we had one, we also sold old issues of magazines and people really buy :)

Oh, yes. I have several magazine subscriptions. I like to be able to hold a book/magazine and feel the pages, turn the pages and check out pictures. I keep them and then am able to go back many weeks/months later and read them again. Beats having to run down archives online.

I like reading back issues too. Feels like I've been reading it again for the first time. I'm glad that even if I stopped buying magazines, my mom still has lots of it so I'm just reading what she's buying :)

I love magazines. When I was younger, I also suscribed to some of them, one was about history and another one was GEO. But, actually I search all information on Internet, as magazines are a bit expensive.

That's true. Although I love reading magazines, I don't feel like buying anymore because of the cost. And everything else can be found on the net already.

Hi there. I am an avid magazine collector. I make it a point to buy a monthly issue of my favorite magazine, Cosmopolitan Philippines. :) It still piques my interest even when they have a website I can check online. I still like the feeling of browsing a real tangible magazine. In fact, I still buy real books, I don't get much excitement when I read e-books. :)

I don't really think that magazines are all that worth buying because most of them don't really have a whole lot of great articles in them. I took up this telemarketer deal about half a year ago for some magazines and now I've been getting a bunch of ones that I have no idea where they are coming from. I get ones like bass master, bicycling, and entrepreneurship. I don't even want these magazines but I don't know how to stop them. I do get some that I like such as Men's Health, Natural Health, and Organic Gardening but still there is limited information in them and you can find pretty much anything you want nowadays on the internet so magazines are definitely becoming pretty obsolete.

I still buy magazine when I am in the mood or when something interesting caught my attention. But it's very seldom since I can read and search anything that I want to know from the net.

That's the thing actually. Internet is like everyone's biggest competition since it's more convenient and everything is easier to find compared to the hard copies. As to the buying of magazines, not all articles in it will interest you so like me, I only buy whenever something really caught my attention :)

I seldom buy magazines because my sister in law always have new magazines in their home so when I have time to visit them, I would have to borrow some. But if I encounter a good magazine, I would buy it. the last one I bought was the one with a cover picture of the Zoren and Carmina's and wedding. Have a great day!

Hi ayeeesha! It's been a long time since I last purchased my own magazine. I think it's a decade already. Ha-Ha. It saved me a lot of cash. I also don't purchase books anymore. I just maximize the use of internet. I also love those magazines you've mentioned during my college days especially Candy Magazine. Have a nice day!

Me too! I just let my mom buy magazines then I'll borrow it afterwards. And there are times when I can just look up everything that I need in the Internet, especially when it comes to fashion. Saves me a lot of money too :)

Hi Ayeeesha! ;) I was into magazine during teen and early adult years, too. But it got mature(e.g. Cosmo, FHM, MomsToday, etc.) as time goes by. And my interest shifted from fashion/gossips/entertainment to parenting and lifestyle. Such interest rose since I had a family already. I used the magazines for inspiring stories and tips for home care and parenting. Additionally, I use magazines for making my inspiration scrapbook. Hehe! Like dream house, shops to buy, cutie baby pictures, etc. But I don't buy new magazines, I buy the outdated ones so it's cheaper and I wouldn't feel much regret in cutting them up. While I get my latest updates online. Thanks for the discussion Ayeesha ;)

There are a lot of tips found in the magazine. However, I don't buy one anymore. I just read magazines whenever I visit the salon or my mom's house because she still buys magazines up to now. Where do you get back issues of magazines? :)

I do buy Women's World magazine and occasionally I buy quilting magazines to get ideas on what I want to make. I do not have an IPad or a tablet so if I want to read a magazine I buy it. I will also go online and read a magazine as well.

There are actually a lot of information that can be gained from the internet. It's no wonder that people and even big companies are slowly resorting to the web in order to attract more customers and readers.

Paper has its advantage. - The future generation will be more acceptable a world that is paperless.
Even big magazine like Time magazine has ceased or stop paper production and solely rely on online subscription. The trend is going towards paperless society. For me i prefer paper sometime because it hurts my eyes less. Paper is more convient to bring into the toilet bowl to read too. However, sometime in office or cafes it is better to read using hand held devices like ipad, notebook , smartphone and etc. Maybe the younger generation will get used without paper.

To be honest, I still like the feeling of holding a book while reading rather than using any form of tablet. I grew up holding a book and the transition of going paperless still hasn't sunk in me yet. But magazines for me are different. There are magazines that are really costly that's why I no longer buy one.

Yes I still buy them. But I never buy any teen magazines in my life. Sometimes I buy really cheap or used magazines to use as drawing references. What I mostly buy are graphic design, art(Imagine FX magazines) and web design magazines. Reading a digital copy on the other hand can be tiring because you're staring at a screen with lights. Besides the magazines that I read, probably don't have any online publication.

Yes, it also depends on the niche. But the usual magazines such as Cosmopolitan or Elle have online publications already and the Internet has also all sorts of information needed. Although computers do strain the eyes and it does hurt whenever I stare at it for too long.

Just like you, I used to collect magazines when i was younger. But now, I do not have the luxury of time buying and reading them. True that because of the world net, we find it more convenient reading some info through the net. Imagine how costly magazines are now. So i would just settle accessing articles online rather than spending hundreds of pesos in a magazine!

I used to buy paper magazines few years ago and there are still 3 large boxes of old magazines in my house cuz I don't want to throw them or sell them. But these years i seldom buy paper books including magazines, instead I'd like to buy eBooks or magzines and read them on my Ipad, I love this way cuz u can download many different books in one Ipad.So i don't need to carry many heavy paper books.

Unlike you, I still prefer the printed books. I always enjoy the feeling of going inside a book store and going out with a bag with books on my hand :) Although the IPad is very convenient, I still like books. But I'd rather spend money on books rather than buying magazines :)
