Why we need to educate to work for good money?

Lots of people don't reach college degree or even high school, they don't know how to read or even write their own names. But the good thing is they have the skills, the skills that can make good money. I have a neighbor here who reach only Grade 3 on elementary school and never back to school again. He have the skills in plumbing, installing wire, and any other things done to complete a house or building. I reach in College degree but I don't have good money like him, he is not educated but he have good money. Do education needs in order to work someday and get good money? What can you say?
