I had made these baskets up for the shelter, I wanted to get rid of some movies I had and that are taking up space. Seeing as I couldn't sell them, most of these swap and buy groups these people want it for nothing and delivered. I donated them to the shelter in gift baskets, with some candy or chocolare I bought at the dollar store. The girl running the auction, messaged me saying someone ate two of the three bags of popcorn. They even left the empty package on the table. I couldn't believe this, and very disgusted, seeing as there was a sign saying it was for the auction. What did they think noone was going to notice. These baskets were advertised as having popcorn and candy in them, and half of it is gone. I said sorry, but I dont have any money to replace it because immature people ate it.

That was rude they did that especially because there was a sign on it. I hope those people our found who did it, I would make them replace what they ate. That's so rude. Atleast the lady was nice enough to email you and let you know what happened though.

I hope so too, but the fact that most people come and go while volunteering it's hard to proove who did it. But I can't see a grown adult doing this, so I believe it's one of the teenagers in the afternoon.

It is really nice of you to do this, and I hope this incident does not put you off from making further donations in future. The most important thing is that you did this out of altruism and your best knowledge that it will be handled responsibly, and whoever mishandled your donation will have to answer for it himself. Do not be annoyed with them, perhaps they really needed to eat and your food came in handy to let them continue their work for the needy. Anyway they will need to justify it, not you. It was nice that they admitted to it too.

If someone was that hungry, I am sure they could of ate the many foods in the fridge not frm donations. I can only imagine if someone of the general public donated something and this happened. It looks very bad on them, and I wont be donating again.

Especially since they left the wrapper there.

Me neither, it's sad to even hear things like this going on.
