You will grow a watermelon in your tummy

Remember being told that you should not swallow watermelon seeds? Were you told that they might grow? Of course that does not happen. I wonder. . . with all the health food trends of eating nuts and seeds if we are in any danger of growing a plant in our tummy. I just had salba--that is chia seeds. Wonder if I am going to have a chia pet in my tummy?

Stomach acid is much too strong for plants to grow. Did your pets nibble the fresh green vines?

@GardenGerty No they didn't. Odd cause the cats love sprouts.

Ha ha - I remember being told that about seeds. I think I was told the same thing with orange, cherry, and I'm sure some other seeds. So technically, I should have a whole orchard in my tummy by now!

Yeah, me too. I like chia seeds in stuff and they are supposed to be pure protein.

I remember that and similar sayings when I was young. I'm pretty sure we won't grow any tummy melons or carrots in our fingernails.

Oooh that reminds me of the little kid book where the little boy pushed his veggies onto his fork with his thumb and then grew vines out of it. I do not remember the name of the book, though.

Seeds may germinate in our tummy as it happens when they are surrounded by dampness but growing into a plant that is far fetched.
