The relativity of 'truth.' That's the summary ... a lot of this is 'my train-of-thought,' so it would be good of you to read all of this before you respond.
I start with the fact that we aren't always thinking of 'the same thing' when we think about ourselves ... To explain what I mean---"What am I?" Right now, I would say that I'm a complex formation of clay, typing observations/imaginings into this computer. Other times, I say that I'm 'most of the text I've submitted to the Internet.' Other times, I would say that I'm 'an electric spirit exclusively inhabiting this complex clay-formation.'
That comes up because when Christians-etc. say "Lord Jesus Christ saved me," it doesn't seem 'true'; because ... What did He do to save which 'you' from what?
I know the standard Christian answers ... they're mostly just "noise" to distract you from the fact that 'the tree isn't there!' ("Tree" and 'other things that are sturdy & steadfast like wooden-branches' make up the root of the word "True" ... the idea being--I suppose--that true truth is its own witness.)
The 'noise' says "He died in my place (having no sin, He paid the price as if He HAD sin; so that none of us who DO have sin "owe" what The Bible calls "the wages of sin")" ... answering the 'what' as "sin (the guilt)."
I guess that implies it's talking about 'the electric spirit'-me there---that this clay-form is sort of a "confounded machine" that doesn't run 'properly' unless it does a few things that aren't very conducive and -that are sometimes a little destructive to other machines and -to their products.
That brings us to 'the definition of "sin."' Many people think it's something like 'intentional evil.' And that's partly right, as 'choosing the wrong target' means that you "miss the mark" (the true definition of sin). So saying that "Jesus washes your sin away" may not mean He 'erases your record' so much as He 'clears your mind of any pre-conceived notions you may have of "what your target is."'
And I feel that anyone who presents 'part of the truth' (without revealing that there's more to it) is "bearing false witness"---like The Serpent in the Garden of Eden did when he told Eve that the Forbidden Fruit would make her "like God" ... it DID make her like God in 'the knowledge of good & evil,' but it MOSTLY revealed how these clay-forms we quicken are NOT God-like!

Have you ever really STUDIED the Bible? Your explanation, which I read thoroughly doesn't mention what the Bible says. It merely mentions what other persons may or may not think.
I say that what others think doesn't matter. What really matters is what GOD thinks and he had his thoughts written in the Bible. He has also preserved to Bible down to our day so that we can read his thoughts.
God had the Bible written over a period of about 1600 years, using about 40 different men as "secretaries" who God inspired to write what he wants us to know. If God took all that time and effort to have the Bible written, it stands to reason that HE would preserve it intact. He has not allowed it to be altered, despite what critics of the Bible say. It wouldn't make sense that God would allow such a thing to happen.
All the answers are in the Bible. In fact, the Bible contains a "sacred secret" about God's eternal purpose for the earth and for mankind. Unless a person searches the Bible for answers, what that person believes is irrelevant. That sacred secret begins in the book of Genesis and is carried through the entire Bible until reaching a conclusion in the book of Revelation. If a person does not understand this "sacred secret" or what some call a "mystery" then that person doesn't really KNOW what God has planned for mankind. It's important to know this and the only way you can learn it is by studying the Bible. You certainly can not learn it by listening to what other people have to say.
There are in fact, over 1200 different denominations of so-called "Christian" churches, but what they teach is not necessarily backed up by what the Bible says. Also, many persons have been misled by false teachings and still others believe what their grandparents told them or what they have heard through the years.
Since there are many Bible critics, some people have been led astray by teachings of "evolution" and other God insulting theories.
Instead of believing what other people say, it's important to learn what God has to say. Then, and only then, will you know the truth about God's purpose for the earth and the reason that Jesus had to die.

oh, so we're supposed to believe 'a multi-millennial game of Chinese Whispers' over 'repeatedly "proven" evidence'? (and that's not 'proven' meaning "trying to find out how you can agree with it," but rather 'trying to disprove it again-&-again).
My God's name is best translated "I Am as I Am, or I Will Be as I Will Be," not 'I Am as I Said I Was.' The Bible is there to teach us 'how he was' in order that we 'properly regard' him in the future ('worship him' we do, when it is the best way to "serve" him; but sometimes he is better served by ... is the smith paid for the unfinished sword? I don't think so)
