Desire to Make Money from Daraprim

I don't feel this is right and somebody in Congress needs to put a stop to it.
Martin Shkreli the owner of Turing Pharmaceuticals who recently acquired Daraprim has raised the price from $13.50 to $750 per pill, yes $750 per pill.
That is more than a 5000 % increase.
No wonder people are dying who the heck can pay for pills that are that high.
According to medical experts there’s no change in what the drug does, or how it works.
It is simply that this Martin wants more money any way he can get it.
He has done the same thing in another company he was with
. Patients should not have to make a decision should I eat or pay all my money for this drug to keep me alive.

That is what one might call-looting in broad daylight. This overshooting price rise, is beyond comprehension, to say the least. I am not sure if any consumers, or pharmaceutical distributors body has taken exception to it. I feel that they should pick up cudgels against him.

It is definitely unethical no matter what he says his reasons are for the price hike.

@Marcyaz Looks like that fellow wants to make as much hay, as he can, before the sun sets. The patients, and everyone else be damned. It is very unethical also.

Apparently he's going to lower the price since everybody's po'd at him. Not sure how much yet.
Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli said Tuesday he would roll back the massive price increase for lifesaving drug Daraprim after a fierce public backlash that included presidential candidates.

May be the company has monopoly on Daraprim and the Company knows that its good substitutes are not available, they took the advantage of this fact and increased the prices, without bothering about patients. For some money is more important than a man's life.

I haven't heard exactly what the pill is for on the news.
Looking it up en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrimethamine I see it's for prevention/treatment of malaria (for people with immunodeficiency).
Maybe it sounds cruel & tyrannical, but ... Survival of the Fittest ???

@Marcyaz Increasing this much percentage of one pill is their own wish and definitely it not a healthy matter for a company .
They might faced heavy demand in raw materials to produce Daraprim and they might known the essential of the pill . The another reason may be no competition or substitute for that pill..
A gradual increase can be accepted but this much is not acceptable .
The people only suffers .
I don't know how the Government interfere and control this .

I think it is a disgusting display of greed and disregard for the people dependent on these pills for their very lives. He had the nerve to say that people should thank him for doing that and that it was a reasonable increase. It must take a cold heart to do this.
