Wine A Little, You will Feel Better....

Canada

My husband and I are in the Wine Business – on the outer edges. I paint on slate and make Wine Signs that sell in the wine shops in my neighborhood. My husband started his own classes about “The Wine Industry“ after doing research to find out what the Wineries wanted in the local Colleges to increase potential for greatness. The colleges eventually took over and now offers degrees in many phases of Wine Making. My husband started a Wine Lab to test and improve the local wines that is still in business. We have good friends in the business. My best friend and I worked for her husband for years before they retired importing wine roots (plants) from Germany, Italy and France. My friend and I were in charge of filing orders for the local wineries who planted the plants in their vineyards. We're talking thousands of plants and it was cold work. We wore our ski clothes and worked in a refrigerated warehouse. Needless to say, being in the business I have tasted many wines and we still get together with friends to taste new wines on a regular basis. The photos above are fun shots I took. 1.A friend's face distorted by a wine glass at a wine tasting, 2. A work of art . A counter made our of corks with a fake glass of spilled wine at one of our local wineries. 3. A Wine Library. A Wine Library is a room in a wine cellar that hold samples of all the wine this particular winery has ever made. Its like walking into a museum. Are there Wineries in your neighborhood? .

I'd love to see some of your slate paintings. I did a couple of slate roof tiles that had been removed from an 1880's legislative building in Toronto.

I prefer to us use the old slate taken from buildings, ithey are so interesting, more colors from acid rain. I also buy new from roofing companies when i can't find used. Lately i have wbe writing on they, intersting and funny sayings which leaves the colors behind the writing. Here is one I posted on someone elses post when they asked to see what I do. I do not do fine art, I enjoy folk art and primitive. Thank for asking

There will never be a winery in my country. The climate is not right, the land is too expensive for such extensive agriculture, and the government imposes very high tax to discourage drinking.

We are famous for our grapes because they can grow here, the climate allows it. I don't even know what is used to make whiskey - grain?
