Good afternoon Folks and how are you. Getting a lot of work done on this nice day.Picking up dead branches and litter for the high way.Yes,I got my hands dirty. No I do not wear gloves. Just finished making banana and blueberries bread. The bananas were ripe and ready to go Now for all of you bakers out there. I normally do not follow recipes. But one thing that I want to know is. What do they mean by a pinch of salt?does it make the batter any better? Then cream the butter and sugar together till it is fluffy and smooth. Are they kidding.Have you have creamed real butter and sugar together. Even though I leave in on the counter.Does not get that soft. is there a difference?I melt the butter.is this going to ruined it? I normally do not follow the recipe fully.I do it my way.Yes,my way And the bread comes out great. My sister has a talent for this. When she make pasta.Get the big board out.Floured it. Put the dough on and cut away.Put a sheet over the pasta to let is set. She does it her way.Baking same thing. Her way. I have skip a lot of things and cannot tell the difference. A cup of sugar. You can use half. What is this.Have a cup of brown sugar packed. What is that suppose to me.Why do I have to packed it. Okay, some of my beef. But As Frank Sinatra says. I will to it my way. The video is supplied by youtube

My grandfather on my mother's side was a professional baker. Though he passed when I was only 8 years old, my mother shared much of his wisdom about cooking and baking with me. She told me that Grandpa always said, "Cooking is an art but baking is a science." What he meant was that experimenting when you cook is okay, but diverging too much from the recipe when you bake is a prescription for disaster. Thanks for the Frank Sinatra clip. I've always enjoyed this song.

@amadeo I may do that. He passed away when I was so young, but I do have some neat memories of him.

"Yes,I got my hands dirty." It is a very good, easy way to get infected finger nails!! Spend a dollar and get 10 plastic gloves at the Dollar Tree or buy a good solid gardening glove

@amadeo A pair of gloves will be cheaper than having a finger amputated!!

Many recipes can be tweaked without making much difference to the outcome. There should be more of us doing it 'our way' I think. :)

I love how you can do three posts in one and still keep your posts short and to the point. Real men never use gloves. lol I never use gloves either and get told all the time I should. That is what soap and water is for. Toughens up the hands and protects you in the long run is what I always thought. Anyway love your song selection also.

Love homemade bread, don't love bananas. *sigh* Isn't a pinch of salt to do with getting the flavour just right? Adding salt to some recipes just seems weird to me.

I enjoy baking especially for my grandchildren. I also love hearing Sinatra. After reading your post, I won't be surprise if in the near future I'll find myself humming "My way" while baking bread.

They call people like us "creative cooks." It's good when you can tweak a recipe to your own preference.
