A toe ring is not a decorative ornament in the Indian Culture. But, it is an ornament meant exclusively for women. When Sita was abducted by Ravana she left her toe ring to indicate the way to Lord Rama. Since time immemorial this is being a part of Indian Custom to wear a toe ring. The toe is always a gift given by a groom to the bride during a wedding ceremony. The practice goes off with the demise of a husband. A widow need not wear a toe ring in the Indian Culture
This ring is worn on the second toe of the each foot. These are generally made of Silver. But, nowadays many people in many countries are wearing it as a decorative ornament. The toe ring is an indication to identify a married woman in a group as it is worn especially on a Wedding Ceremony. They are available in various designs and models. They will be available in single fixed pattern as well as in an adjustable pattern. Nowadays even the ladies in U.S are using these toe rings. Many youngsters are using even plastic rings as toe rings.
The science after a hectic research could find that it is the second toe of the foot that is connected to the uterus and to the heart and wearing a toe ring activates the two and contributes to the health of a woman.
