#8 in my Favorite Breakup Songs series takes us to Chicago, birthplace of The Chi-Lites. The Chi-Lites are a vocal group that has been at it since 1959, with a long list of members over the years. They are in both the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the R&B Music Hall of Fame. In 1971, the group scored it's biggest hit to that date with "Have You Seen Her?," a gold record single from their album (For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People. The song peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, #1 on their R&B Singles chart, and #3 on the UK Singles chart. "Have You Seen Her?" is a classic breakup song, a gentleman (lead singer Eugene Record) lamenting his breakup with his lady. Everywhere he goes, he sees her, and frankly, he's miserable. This one is timeless, one that they'll still be playing many years from now. Even if I didn't have this soft spot for 70's R&B, "Have You Seen Her?" would have made the cut.

I didn't recognize the new names, but apparently they are still going strong.

Oh, you're welcome. I pretty much do these for my own amusement, so it's always nice when someone likes it. Thanks!

Yeah, that's a real classic. I think my brother had the 45 of this song right before he went into the Navy. Great vocals. Excellent choice.

I had to flip a coin between this and "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Luckily, this won!

Oh boy, is that a blast from the past to early youth. I don't even have to play it to hear it.

I know. It's like, even if you hadn't heard it for twenty years, you'd still remember some of the lyrics.

I remember this song! Great song, really smooth and groovy. Didn't MC Hammer use the same hook for his song with the same title?

Yes, Hammer did a version. It was ok. I'm not really a fan, but it was ok.
