job searches while pregnant

I've seen this a few times but didn't see the outcomes.... as a lady on a for sale board was looking for job tips.... she stated what areas and pay she is looking for. However then she states she's pregnant. I wonder if in such a situation if it will make her job search harder as the employee would be on the job less than a year and would leave the position empty for 6-8 weeks. I am sure the employer can't discriminate but I imagine if she is showing they may consider another canidate for the position to avoid being short an employee. Has anyone gone thru a job search while pregnant and was your employer fine with things or did you end up waiting to change jobs after your child was born? A manager at my work was keeping her options open but left 6 mo after her child was born.

Non-discrimination is all very well but if you are an employer with a small business that is struggling you shouldn't be judged for going past a pregnant woman. I'm not saying you're judging - I'm just saying....

That's a good point also a small business truly can't afford to be without an employee. I'm just thinking maybe it would be wiser to stay with her part time employer and move on after the birth of the child. As schedules and abilities may change with a change like a birth can to a family and one can't predict that.

@3SnuggleBunnies That's very true. There are a lot of ifs and buts around having a new baby in a household.

@3SnuggleBunnies Although companies should not discriminate I am sure they do behind close doors.

I think it will be as well. As it sounds as though she wants full time employment plus to go back to school. Wich may be alot more than anticipated once baby gets here. But again I don't personally know this person but curious on if there's child care so she can do all this. As I don't have the child care and cannot work full time

I haven't but I would think it would make the search harder. I wonder if she hadn't mentioned she was pregnant if that would have given her not only a better chance but also give their employer more of a feeling of confidence on her behalf. She isn't focusing on her pregnancy in the job place and so perhaps she would seem for apt to either find someone to take her pace or something along these lines.

I have no idea what it takes for a person to apply. Im just thinking her best odds are to stay with the part time employer and look to make a big jump to full time ect after the birth unless she's in a position where she needs the insurance asap ect. The person didn't list their whole situation.
