Sad News Today

I wrote yesterday about my son and his wife their show dog having puppys. This morning I talked to them and they told me last night they had to take the mother dog back to the vet as she was in trouble, the vet examined her and said they would keep her overnight. This morning the vet called and told them the mother dog has passed away during the night. Now they are trying to find someone who has a mother dog who is nursing that can take another puppy on and raise her until she is old enough to go back home.

That is really sad. Can they bottle feed the puppies if they have to.

@jstory07 Yes it is sad, they were feeding it that way but a mothers milk is the best and they have found a sustitute.

@just4him Fortunately they were able to find a home about 3 hours away who would take the puppy to be with their nursing mother and her puppy.

So sad. Hopefully, your son and his wife find a nursing dog for the puppies. I guess, the vet can help as well. Hope things pan out right for those pups.

I am heartsick at the news of your son's dog's passing. What breed of dog was she? I hope they are able to find a nurse for the puppies.

Oh no, poor thing. She only had one puppy? Was she a very small dog? They can probably call their local shelter and find a dog who cna care for this baby.

@Carmelanirel2 She had 2 puppies but only one puppy made it. We don't have any local shelters in this area. She is a chiwauwau so yes a very small dog.

They could ask the vet if he knows someone who have a mother dog to temporarily "adopt" a puppy. Hope they can find one.

So sorry to hear of her passing. I know it is hard to lose a pet. We just lost our dog whom we had had for 14 years. She became like one of our kids and like to tore us to pieces when she passed. I hope they find a nursing mother to take the puppy or are able to bottle feed the puppy. Best of luck.
