No Wonder I Love Him

I received a lovely gift today from my husband. I am having a significant birthday but I don't think we're supposed to mention too much about such events. We are having 16 people for dinner tomorrow and Vin is busy cooking and I am busy washing pots and pans.
Vin gave me a ring which is really lovely. The only problem is that it is almost exactly the same as the one I've been wearing since I lost my engagement ring some 35 years ago.
We bought a nice ring then with three rubies – and as you can see from the blurry photo where I've pushed the two rings into the slot I now have another one almost exactly the same. We will go to the jewellers next week and exchange it for something a little different. It's hard to believe he has taken so little notice of the one I have. But I guess that's a man for you!

@LadyDuck I have to agree with you on that.--Our husbands never notice too much what we wear, except if they do not like some thing.

@silvermist I guess that is true. I told Vin that he had good taste - picking something the same as I already had! :)

I think that we are all right if we talk about the events of a birthday, its when we make up a post just to talk about someone's birthday and to wish them a happy one. Which this is not.
Your husband has great taste, I love your ring(s) rubies are among my favorite also, as well as my birthstone. I hope that you have an easy time finding something else that you'll enjoy. Happy birthday, enjoy your dinner party.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm sure I'll find something equally as lovely. I quite like something a bit flat so it doesn't catch in things. Big, flashy rocks weren't a good idea when you were working a lot with horses and I guess the idea has stuck.

Amen to that! My father used to take me shopping with him in order to buy my mother gifts. I fulfilled that role for over twenty years. When she passed, and her jewelry was being divided between all of us, I was the one who could explain what each item was and the value.

@JudyEv No, but one Christmas three of my friends bought me the same pair of earrings. Too funny.

Happy Birthday and yes, that is a man for you. I asked for a watch one year for my birthday. I just wanted something that came from the heart form him. Well he farmed the chore out to his mom. I was so mad, the watch still sits in my dresser, he just didn't "get it" never really understood even after I explained. I am keeping him, still love him, but......well....Men!

@JudyEv Yes, you got it exactly right. I am busy doing some touch up painting this week, trying to get those finger printing off the way, that I will be wishing were back in a few years when they are all grown. Touching up the baseboards and thinking, why did I get white??

That is a man for you. I changed furniture around the living room while my better half was out and he didn't notice anything different when he came in. Your ring is lovely, too bad it's so much like the other one. Hope you find one you like. You have a thoughtful husband.
