I always need air! (Fan, Air Purifier, Air Condition)

United States
September 12, 2016 1:50pm CST
I always need some sort of air on - whether it may be the fan, air purifier or air conditioning. If I don't, I feel like I'm trapped or am feeling uneasy! No matter the weather out, if it's raining (which it doesn't rain often here in Southern California), chilly out, even when I go to bed - I will always have the fan, air purifier or air conditioning on. The air doesn't necessarily need to point at me, just be on in the room I'm at. And - I especially can't stand being in a room without windows either. I would feel trapped, like the doctors waiting room.(Even though there is a/c). How about you?

@marguicha Yeah so I have to resort to indoor uses of air.

Lately the neighbors have been smoking or bbqing so we keep the windows closed. It's very annoying.

My husband is like that - but me, I can't stand a draft (maybe for a little while when it's hot, but not for a long time). I do like fresh air, but I am ok with room temperature indoors. I would prefer windows too to get natural sunlight - I don't like that trapped feeling either.

I like fresh air too but the neighbor that moved out, the new ones SMOKE TOO! We had fresh air for a little and now it's back to keeping the windows shut!

Does it bug you? My boyfriend would be like hey it's cold - turn it off. I'm like nope! Deal with it.

Omg! You are so like most men i know. When it's not hot, I can't stand the air conditioner or fan. I don't like any artificial air unless I have a need for it.

our windows are jalousies and the top half are open. all rooms and areas have fans. it's hard to find fans with a timer now. i tend to wake up to turn it off when it gets cold, like if it's raining hard or during the colder months like jan to feb.

Our windows here aren't like that, but lately we cannot open the windows because the neighbors smoke and it's horrible. Or they're out BBQ and I don't like that smell. The fans here we have do have timer like 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours max (or the ones I have) so that's useful. :)

No room w/o window - I would go stark raving mad (or madder than I am already LOL). I feel the same way - I have asthma and sometimes I feel like if I don't have air blowing I will not be able to take a breath.

Must need windows! I had asthma as a child, but now that I'm older, they said I don't anymore since it wasn't that severe. Not sure how it works but I need air + windows. :)

@infatuatedbby The way our house is situated if the windows were open there would be no breeze at all, so I don't open them....I'd rather have the air on anyway.

@AbbyGreenhill Oh yea that makes sense. Here, the neighbors smoke or bbq often so I don't like smelling it. Breeze usually at nights during the day not so much.

Maybe you have claustrophobia? I can't stand without at least a fan during most of the year, but in winter it's cool.

@infatuatedbby I wonder if that's another form of claustrophobia? I always like my fan on but not for the same reason as you. I just like the extra noise when trying to sleep. I don't like complete silence when trying to sleep so the fan helps.

It could be a form of claustrophobia! I don't need the noise though. But, you're right the sound is pretty nice. I don't like to sleep in silence also.

@VivaLaDani13 It's not too bad. I won't get crazy though. I'd just be like oh I need the air conditioning on, or roll down the windows if in the car stuff like that.

@infatuatedbby I'm sorry you have to deal with it though. I only ever feel that way SOMETIMES but I do feel this way for sure if someone is holding me against my will. Even if it is a joke. I start to freak out and feel like I can't breathe!

The noise of the gadgets would get on my nerves. I also think that using all these gadgets is a waste of electricity. Why don't you open the windows so that there is a draft in your rooms?
