Many of us use smartphones. However, I have observed that many people have special craze for iphone made by Apple. As soon as new version is launched, fans of iphone throng the shops/malls to purchase it at any cost. Some even do not mind buying it on installments. The fad becomes surprising because iphone versions are very costly and it is not everyone's cup of tea. Do you feel that this kind of craze for particular brand of phone is justified? For the record I do not have an iphone and it is beyond my pocket to buy it, as of now.

@Julie555 Nokia phones are the best phones in the basic phone category. Till the introduction of Android phones, I was also using Nokia phones and I was very much satisfied with those phones. If your Nokia phone is working fine, then there is no need to replace it.

If you are happy with your existing Samsung smartphone, there is nothing like it. Which means you are not going to go for iphone, as of now.

Yes, iphone has become a status symbol now a days. An average person do not want to go for it, only rich persons want to buy it because they could afford it. It is good to know that you are happy with your Android phone.
PS - iphones are manufactured in China for Apple company.

@youless - There may be some exceptional people, who buy iphone despite their poor financial status. May be they want to show to others that they are rich because they are carrying an iphone.

@dpk262006 In fact not only rich people buy iPhones, but also the poors. It sounds strange but it is true. Perhaps they need something to make themselves confident. I don't think such kind of thing should value so much. It doesn't make a sense.

@skysnap - It is different from other smart phones, it has some features, which are not available in other phone. Its camera quality is better than other phone. It is considered as flawless and seamless phone and moreover now a days it has become status symbol to buy an iphone.

No, I do not understand the need for this kind of brand name product. Think as I might, I value things for what it can do ...that is the function it serves, rather than the fad craze it represents. I cannot afford it also...to me the prices are ridiculous. And I am not too phone smart, either.

Yes, you are very right that it is no fun and wise investment to buy such an expensive phone. We have other necessities which are required to be attended before buying a costly phone. In nutshell, even if you have money, you are not going to buy an iphone.

@Gita17112016 - Yes, survival is more important that buying expensive gadgets like smartphones, without which life would go on.
If you are comfortable using your simple phone, there is no need to go for any high end phone.

@dpk262006 I think I am not living in a country where the pressure is such that I absolutely have to have the latest phone. People here are more about survival and making a living. On TV shows I see people showing off their possessions. I could't care less if my phone is old fashioned or new fad...once it functios, and I can make calls on it.

Mine is a Samsung Galaxy4 and is now over 3 years old but works perfectly. I bought it with a contract with my phone operator and paid for it over thirty two months. Then it became mine forever. I will not change it until it stops working and at that point I will repeat the same method to buy the latest versiob of the same phone. I don't follow trends and certainly don't want an IPone just because it is trendy. I can be trendy by doing my own thing - and it's cheaper too

If Samsung phone is working fine for you, there is no need to change your phone for the sake of changing. I also try to use my mobile phones, as much as possible, before I change it. There is no point spending money iPhone, when we could make do with other phones. I also do not have iPhone and I don't intend to buy this kind of expensive phone.

@LadyDuck - Yes, some people are pretentious and they wish to showcase their wealth to the world. To own a iphone is for those kind of people, not for you and me, who have limited resources to meet our necessities.

No, it's not justified. I don't own a smartphone/iPhone. Mine is only intended for texting/calling. No sophisticated features.Even if I have some money to buy costly phones, I won't since it's value depreciates. Not a wise investment. It's not a even a need.

@rina110383 - Yes, you have a very valid point that we invest huge amount of money in buying high end iphone, it would be not be considered as a wise investment because its value will depreciate. For those who have no spare money for these kind of luxuries, it is better not to go for such phones.

So you are the one who has actually used an iphone. Would you say that it is better than other android phones?
No doubt some people are crazy for its latest version and would go to any extent to acquire it.
To my mind, it is very expensive and the money which we may spend on buying latest version of an iphone could be better utilized elsewhere.

@shaynas - May be ios is better operating system than android. Phones based on android operating system often go out of order sooner than later or they would suddenly stop working. I think battery of an iPhone lasts longer than any android phone and the phone operates without any hassles.
Yes, you are right that there are some people who acquire it to show off.

@dpk262006 ios is a better operating system than android in terms of security and applications, but i will give an upper hand to android in ease of use.
I feel some people acquire it just to show off.
