Pillow and pillow covers.

Our pillows and pillow cover are very important for us. Some of us don't use pillows due to medical reasons, however, most of us use it. I read in an article that research has proved that if a pillow is used for long time, it could contain invisible dust particles, microbes, bacteria, virus and germs in it, therefore, we should change our pillow after a certain period of time. Likewise, invisible dirt, dust and our dead skin get accumulated on pillow covers also, therefore, pillow covers should be changed frequently. How often do you change your pillows and pillow covers?

Pillow covers are changed on a regular basis but not pillows. They are foam pillows.

I change my pillow covers once a week religiously. I can't stand them anymore than that long. I am very particular about my pillows and I would like to wash the actual pillow more often, except sometimes I am lazy because I have to walk a very long way to go to laundry with them for the big machines as there is only little machines not big enough in my place friend. Yes I agree pillows are very important.

It is good that you change your pillow covers regularly and you don't mind getting your pillow washed, as and when possible.

Your first sentence is not clear. It is understandable that you used to change your pillows only when, it used to go flat.

Oh, with all that sweat and stuff . . . cleaning pillows and their cases is a must! We can clean the cases at least once a week - and with the pillows when we think of it. But the eventually the pillow falls flat, so we have to get new ones.

@much2say But mattress last for at least 5 to 10 years, depending upon quality and that is a pretty long time. After that mattress become loose and more than soft. Is not it?

Yes, it is better to change pillow covers on regular basis to keep ourselves away from dust and other such particles. We should not feel hesitant to change pillow also, after all it is we, who have to sleep on pillows and pillow should always be in a good condition.

I do have a lot of pillows and I buy replacements when they go flat. I try to wash the pillows and pillow cases periodically. But I know I do not wash them often enough.

I put the pillows under the sun , whenever it's sunny. That way, those mites can be killed by the sunlight.

The type of pillow I use can be washed and dried, over and over. It is just two years old so I'm in no rush to replace it and I love it anyway.

I buy new pillows randomly. I use my pillow cases for laundry, so I try to rotate. Each one gets washed about once a month.

You do not buy on need basis but if you go to market and like a pillow, you would buy it. Is it so? Yeah, it is better to frequently get the pillow cases washed so as to avoid any health issues.

We don't get new pillows very often but some tend to become very flat and then we'll buy new ones. I use a pillow cover or protector and wash it quite often. The pillow- cases get changed every week and washed.

@dpk262006 I suppose we should buy new pillows more often but if I don't think about it, it won't worry me. I have washed pillows occasionally if I think they need it.
