Heading for Fairbridge Festival next week

Next weekend we are heading to a music festival in an tiny historic 'village' near Pinjarra in Western Australia. Fairbridge was once home for dozens of orphan children, mostly from Britain, and has various buildings available for use by the festival. A number of marquees are erected too and it is a very popular event. We will probably take the bus/motor-home as it hasn't sold yet and it is more convenient than taking the caravan. We'll also put a big 'for sale' sign on it and hope someone shows some interest in it. The festival lasts for four days this year and most come for the duration. There will be caravans/campers of all sorts, motor-homes galore, and tents of every shape and dimension. Some will 'glamp' in luxury hired tents. Fairbridge is an international festival with acts from all over the world. The photo shows a group from a previous year. I was intrigued with the unusual instruments that many had. Do you get the chance to attend music festivals?

I like your photo Judy and this instrument is for sure unusual. It's a long time that I do not attend musical festivals.

@JudyEv The concerts are very expensive, you are lucky to be able to enjoy your music groups.

@LadyDuck We read of a group that is coming that we'd love to see but then we read the price and we lose interest. This festival is quite expensive in a way but you have non-stop music from about 9am till midnight for four full days. And there are at least 4 or 5 venues with groups in each all the time. So you can get your money's worth if you can stand the pace.

We don't go to many concerts as they are very expensive but we will have a huge choice of diverse groups here and if we're not enjoying the music of one group, it's acceptable to sneak off quietly and go somewhere else.

@teamfreak16 We usually pick up a CD or two of the bands we like the most. We also suss out groups that we think might suit the Shack. Many of our groups we've sourced from Fairbridge.

An international a festival in a remote village may have something to do with that village. Any history? Hope you get a customer for your motor home.

It's not really remote - maybe an hour from the city. It started off a small folk festival and has grown over the 20+ years it's been going. It's 'international' in the meaning that they have some international acts.

It is an African instrument. I was really intrigued with it. Mostly he held it on his own.

There would be a lot in Victoria I would think - and in the other states. WA is a long way to go just for a festival.

Yes, that's what we're thinking. The other guy probably isn't going to take it which is a shame but that's the way it is.

Not overly musically inclined and I've never been to a festival. I suspect that four days would be a bit long for me

We might head back to our camp for a nap after lunch if we get tired of the music. I know we're paying good money and need to get value but as you say, four days is pretty long.
