Have You Ever Been On Television?

Are you a star? Most of us aren't but I found out when talking with some friends that many of us have had our mugs on the small screen at some time. It could be a landed part in a series, or being caught in the sidelines of a news story or even a feature starring you. One doesn't need to be an actor (or maybe you are) to be on television. My experiences were far from glamorous but I did sit in as a customer for a restaurant chain TV ad. All I had to do was act like I was enjoying the food and the company (which I was). My only other television appearance was in a news story back in the day when I was yielding a sign in protest over the felling of an ancient tree. Ha ha. Have you ever been on television for any reason?

Ohh - that's even better and 10 minutes is a long time. Do share :))

@suziecat7 Not much to share, the movie was being filmed in my country Guyana and I was spotted by the casting people when I went to interview the star of the show. Even though I did reasonably well for a first timer I had no interest in attempting to go further in that field. The excitement and novelty of it all helped to change what would have been an otherwise boring summer.

@Kandae11 I'll bet. Even though you didn't want to take it any further, it was still a good experience. Very cool.

That's so cool! I haven't been on TV, but my parents were once interviewed on the news. My picture was in the paper once though. If I saw myself on TV I'd just end up thinking about how fat I look!

We always are so hard on ourselves. Thankfully my TV experiences were when I was young and skinny.

Yes, I have been many times on television when I pass a store that has a camera and I have seen myself and acted like a clown. Does that count?

I've never been on TV but one of my daughters was when she was in middle school. She probably doesn't even remember it. It was a news report. I was proud of her. She spoke very plainly, very clearly, very confidently and she answered the question directly. No beating around the bush. They were asking her about the possible impeachment of President Bill Clinton. That's some question to ask a kid if middle school, isn't it???

It seems like a big question for a middle school child but it appears she rose to the occasion.

@suziecat7 - It was the middle school students that were putting the questions to the President. That's how they ended up on TV. It was because of that particular class assignment. The kids weren't old enough to vote but that didn't stop them from asking questions. One of the questions had to do with Clinton's impeachment and I guess the reporters wanted to know what the kids thought the answer to that question should be. It was a quick blurb but she managed to get most of her answer out before they clipped it. They only had so many minutes in that news segment.

When I was a kid the news came to our school. Later on I saw me on tv trying to hide from the camera.

Ha - I think most of us don't want to be recognized when we see cameras heading our way.

When we went on a visit to CA we saw an episode of Candid Camera with Dom Deluise when they scanned the audience and there we were. That is the only time, my kids have been on the news during a tour of the state capital. But we are not stars nor will we ever be.

Most of us aren't stars but sometimes we accidentally get a cameo.

Our brass band once took part in a TV commercial. I think we appeared in the background for about 2 seconds.

I was on TV two times. One was at a college football game when it showed me and my friends cheering, and the other was at a professional hockey game when I was sitting next to where the players went to the locker room from the ice. My parents called me after the college football game and told me they saw me on the TV, so that one was pretty cool.
