$95 Neiman Marcus cake

My parents’ best friends received a beautiful cake from Neiman Marcus last week. It was sent to them by the parents of their son’s partner. The cake was red velvet with cream cheese icing filling and decorated with red roses and gold shimmer. Of course being curious, the wife looked up the price online and found that it cost $95. She brought the cake to the New Years Day dinner at my cousin’s house today. We lit candles and sang happy birthday to my mother whose birthday is right after Christmas. I didn’t have any of the cake but those who did were unimpressed. They said the cake was dense and the cream cheese icing filling was too heavy. Guess it is NOT worth the cost but it sure was beautiful.

I had a similar experience with a birthday cake I once ordered. The design was really nice but the taste wasn't that great. Really not worth the price I paid for it.

Very pretty. I could pay dish for two months at that price. And I bet I could bake one that tasted better, maybe not as pretty but????

It does seem to be all icing. But it's lovely to look at.

It does look beautiful and sad that expensive cakes do not taste good. I rather pay less the 5 dollars and make it from a box or make my own
