That moon shot that JJ got is rare.
It was 19 years ago when we last had a full moon on January 2nd. It will be another 19 years for this to happen again.
It was 39 years ago that there was a blue moon in January, it will be another 39 years for a repeat of that.
So, is this the first time in your lifetime that there has been a full moon on January 2nd?

It's so funny - last night we just happened to be outside when it got dark (leaving my parents' house). It looked Halloweenish - kinda dark, cloudy, spooky looking . . . it was very cool but we hadn't realized it was actually "an event"! Oh my gosh - I can't even remember 19 years ago's new year/full moon!!

And you'll have another opportunity on the 31st, but if it's as cold as you've mentioned you might not want to be outside to see it.

For me, yes this is the first time I've ever seen a full moon, on Jan. 2. The next time I will be 86 years old, if I'm still around! What a beautiful cat!

@rebelann There was a cat like her, in Bay City. He was as big as a bob-cat and almost killed a dog one time!
