Paying weekly, or paying weakly

I sold something this summer. It was for more than a little pocket change, but we agreed to take payments. Weekly payments. I last received a payment August 13. We planned to bless someone by taking it easy with them, and we were further blessed by something we then found that we could buy. I am not sure we blessed the buyers, though, because they try to have integrity, and they are not living up to their part of the bargain. I will not say who, what, or how much, that is not important. I guess they are just paying weakly.

I feel when someone lets payments go that far between they are taking advantage of your kindness.

What I am seeing is irresponsibility on top of good intentions that went the wrong way.

I have noticed that for many "bills" to pay are the least important thing, first come their entertainment. This is something that upsets me a lot.

This is part of my issue. I knew they were in difficulties financially, because they had extended kindness to someone else, BUT I see their facebook profile that tells me what kind of fun they are having, oh, and that they ran for a local political office as a write in. Money spent on printing signs probably should have gone to me.

@sueznewz2 I am the feeling that those really in need never ask for money.

Yes, Patsie. They do not intend to cheat, they just do not follow their intentions to pay either.

Any attempt, even a reduced amount, would be a sign of good faith.

Sometimes after being so generous, you have to just bite the bullet and talk to them because if you make a deal, it should be kept that way, sometimes we can't be too nice to people or they will walk all over us

That is a shame they will not hold up their end of the bargain. I would be thinking twice if it was me before trying to help them again

We were very frank when we made this deal. They were in a hard place, due to others taking advantage of them. We even made them an excellent deal, but I do not see them making any effort.

Something similar happened to me and my husband in the past. They ended up paying 2 payments then moved and we never heard from them again. So, as a result, we learned never to set up a payment plan with people ever again when selling something.

That's terrible when folks take advantage of someone being decent and trusting.

There is a certain aspect to this that becomes awkward. I am sending a statement to them "for their records", to see what that jogs loose.

Sometimes you just talk to them and explain that you would like what they promised, that they made a deal with you. I hope that things work out.

I usually get all the money up front. There was a reason we did this in this manner, and we did receive some benefit from doing so. I am, however, getting tougher.

You expect people to have integrity, but I am beginning to see that although intentions are good, this person cannot manage their own business well at all.
