Salvador Gomez Colon, 15, who lives with his relatives in San Juan Puerto Rico is doing his part to assist the victims of Hurricane Maria that has kept a lot of the island in the dark since there is no electrical power in some parts of that nation.
Salvador started a fundraiser four days after Hurricane Maria struck his homeland by raising more than $125,000 dollars to purchase portable lamps and hand operated washing machines to the citizens in the area that are deeply in need of getting some assistance.
Salvador with the help of his relatives and friends have given more than 1,400 lamps to 840 households to lift the burden of living in darkness and in extremely harsh conditions.
Salvador has 1,600 solar lamps that he hopes to deliver to the areas that need it most during the weekends with the assistance of his relatives and classmates.
It is nice to see that one young man has used the power of the social media platform site called Generosity to assist people in need in his homeland.

Salvador did a wonderful job using the power of charities to assist his people without expecting a reward.

It's always heart-warming to hear good news like this. That there are people who go above without fanfare to help those in need as compared to politicians with news coverage of their presence in times of natural disasters. Every time there is mention of Puerto Rico's plight, the image of Trump tossing tissue paper at the crowd comes to mind. Such a mindless and disgraceful act!

I know what you mean that world leaders only give lip service that they care for the people they claim to serve.

What a generous heart and great thinking on his part. After we had an ice storm in our area about ten years ago and people were without power I saw a lot of hand crank lights and radios and such that would be great relief for people.

The best thing when a disaster strikes is when charities come to assist us in our time of need.
