Six months back unfortunately it was observed that termites have badly infested our show cases. Most of the books were practically converted into muddy dwellings of theirs. The covers were intact and from inside the books were eaten by them. Some completely and some partly. Since the termites were still living I had to burn all the infested books and had to treat the Show case with Anti termite medicine. They were more than 600 Books pertaining to my subjects and some of them were purchased from abroad. Thanks today on Libraries are at our disposal and I can refer the things from that Library. However subjecting the Text books which were my saviors, friends and guide was too painful. Have you ever had such a bad experience with termites?

@AKRao24 We also had an accident and many of our books were destroyed. We had stored the boxes with our book in a self storage when we moved from France to Switzerland. The fire system broke and thousand of gallons of water entered our storage flooding all the boxes on the ground.

It is not a fun , but a big pain in neck! The termites never give any hint about their presence! We only come to know about them only once they have ruined our belongings! Thanks @KrauseHome !

It is better thing not to have them! They not only ruin the things but never let you know when they did that...we only come to know about their destruction when everything is finished! Thanks a lot dear @snowy22315!

I'm very sorry to hear that as books are very precious. Thankfully, I have never had a problem with termites. In one place, I did have a problem with cockroaches and was glad to move out of there without bringing any with me. I had to pack everything very carefully. Another place we had problem with mice and one night they even bit my brother.

Yes, I felt very bad to burn about half of my personal library...Cockroaches are another nuisance makers. Rats are unwanted intruders in our home and we hardly can do anything as they are present in abundance on the farm, They get well balance nourishment and very cosy places to stay on the farm! Thanks dear @1hopefulman !

That is such a shame. It's amazing how termites can leave the exterior surfaces intact but the whole inside can be crumbling. I'm sorry you lost so many books. I'm sure they would have seemed like old friends.

Oh yes dear books are companions, friends, guides in the need of crisis! They become very important for persons like me who are in medical field as we need to refer them from time to time! I really felt very bad to burn those things but there was no go left! Thanks a lot for expressing your sympathy! God bless!
