When I saw this saying I just knew I had to use it in a post. I have been saying for years that the only person who can make you happy is yourself. I am here to tell you that depending on someone else to make you happy is not going to work. I learned a long, long time ago that you are the only one who can make you happy. You have to reach deep down inside yourself and pull that happiness out. Positive thoughts and counting your blessings go a long way towards helping you along. Thinking that someone else's actions will bring the joy and happiness is putting way too much pressure on the other person. If you cannot be happy in your own self no one can bring it to you. What do you think?

You do have to make your own happiness to stay happy and positive in your life. You get out of life what you put into it.

There in nothing wrong with trying to make someone happy but the happiness needs to come from inside them.

That is absolutely true! You can't rely on someone to make you happy. You have to do things yourself that will bring joy and happiness into your life.

@HazySue i think we play a part in making others happy. Not just people making themselves happy. Since those depressed cant be happy on their own.

Happiness is a choice and it must come from us and not on others. We can't expect to gain happiness from others coz it would only result to disappointment and frustrations, thereby being unhappy. So definitely, we make our own happiness and we should if we really want to be truly happy.

That is true we feel our loved ones pain. However, we can try to help them find their way to happiness but we cannot be held totally responsible for their unhappiness.

I agree totally and I've been saying this for years too. I also think that being happy is a decision that you can make, at least in most cases. You can choose to be miserable or decide you'll be happy.

I have chosen to be happy and positive about my life. I wouldn't be able to live with the miserable negative feelings all the time.

I understand your point but i think to be truly happy we need to see those that we love happy too, if my beloved ones are having serious problems then it is difficult.

That is true but you can help them in your own way. Be there for them, let them talk, remind them of their blessings, and remember that you are not responsible for their unhappiness.

I agree totally. Happiness is a choice that is free for everyone to make. Hold positive thoughts and feel gratitude for the smallest things in your life. Letting go of expectation and living in the moment.

A positive attitude is contagious as well as a negative attitude. That is why I try to stay away from negativity as much as I can.
