Good Monday evening to all. It has not yet rained for today but it is drizzling now. About 2 hours ago, the sun was still shining to the west. Then there was a very loud BANG. I thought somebody fired an RPG because it was so deafening. Then my sister called all the dogs inside because all of them were playing in the lawn. “Inside”, she said and all dogs went in. Then I realized. It was not the sound of an RPG. It was a very loud thunder. My son and sister agreed with me. No, there was no lightning preceding the thunder. But now, there is no more thunder roaring in the skies. Just that one. Are you scared of the loud sound of thunder? I am not, even our dogs are not.

we usually expect thunder and lightning if the hot temperature clashes with the cool temperature in the atmosphere. i dread if a person's life is taken by a bolt of lightning in an open field.

@rakski that is why when there are thunderstorms here, we would close our windows and door and not bring out our mobile phones. and not wear red. hahaha

@ridingbet A lightning entered in my granny house through the fireplace and came out through the side door. We got a big scare.

i recall lightning hitting a tree in front of our house, and another one, a flash of lightning that entered our house when we were still renting in the city. good thing we had no electricity that time.

@cherigucchi i am scared if i am in an open field. when inside the house, i just close the windows and door, and switch off or hide, any electrical instruments so the lightning won't go down and hit us.

yes, thunder won't harm us but not for those who have weak heart. a loud sound may induce seizures or cardiac arrest.

There was only one time in my life when thunder scared me, and that was when I was living on Guam. It was as loud as you described and scared me, but not a second time, because I knew what to expect, still it did make me jump when it was so loud. If it happened at night, it was the only sound to wake me. I'm normally a very hard sleeper and nothing wakes me, but that did.

true, a very loud sound, if unknown to us, can easily scare us away. that was what i thought of when i heard the loud bang. i thought maybe a blast from an RPG did that.
