Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!

Yes, really... The young(er) men that have been helping us lately were over today and putting up a couple of screen doors. Now, these aren't screen doors to keep bugs out, they are heavy metal "gate" type screen doors that can keep people - or cats - in or out. D1 and D2 I will call them since their names both start with a "D." D1 went out to his car for something and Cleo got out of the yard. I had to go chase her, mind you, I'm older than either of them, so I guess I was elected to go because she knows me. I caught her pretty easily, but as I was hauling her home by her collar, I got my leg twisted and I fell. I didn't want to have to chase her again, so I kind of fell on top of her. I didn't go down hard or even very fast, but because of the twisted leg it hurt. The neighbor who's yard I had chased her into grabbed her by her collar and I tried to get up. Yeah, that wasn't happening. I texted the guys for help. They came over and asked if they could lift me, then asked if maybe a chair would help. Oh yeah, there was a wheelchair in the back of my car... they ran and got that. With the chair there to lean on, D2 on one arm while D1 held the chair still, I managed to get to my feet, turn on the good leg and sit. D1 pushed me home, I had to get up past one little area, but I discovered that I can put weight on the leg, I just can't twist it. I let them push me inside then walked to my desk chair. I limped out to the car and got them money for doing the work. I suspect the knee and the hip are going to be really unhappy with me tomorrow, but the next thing I've got to do is the high school reunion on Saturday.

I'm aching, but so long as I move slowly and don't twist the knee, I don't feel to bad - yet.

@mlgen1037 I took aspirin right away after the fall, that seemed to help some, and I took my major meds earlier than I normally do, because I got the wife hooked up early.

If I am really hurting, I can haul out the wheelchair, but I have to get it back in the car first! Our guy friend is supposed to come on Saturday so if I don't feel up to doing it tomorrow, I'm sure that he'll put it in for me.

We'll see how I do. If I don't make it, it will be because I feel really. I'm glad I had my phone on me, although the guy who's house I fell in front of would've probably called or gone over and gotten them for me.

Oh, dear! How about a nice soak in the tub with epsom salts? That's what I do when I ache. Hope everything heals up quickly.

Sadly, our tub is out of order, showers are our only option.

@BarBaraPrz Its complicated. We have only used it for filling our mop bucket and storing our mops for the last 3 years, it isn't clean and I sure can't clean it. Even if the wife was able, she wouldn't be allowed because of the dialysis port for her peritoneal dialysis.

I can move, even my knee doesn't hurt if I don't twist it. I do ache all over, but I did go down pretty awkwardly.

@ElicBxn Well, the fact you can move, even your knee is a good sign. I hope the pain will lower soon.

@LadyDuck the good news is that I really don't feel that bad, got a twinge in the knee because I lifted it wrong, but other than that, I'm actually doing pretty good

I'm doing pretty good, a bit of an over all ache, a few spots worse than others, but considering, I'm good.

I suspect you're right about that. Seems they would have chased your dog down or been more careful not to let him out.

well, I really don't understand why he didn't help, but it would've been different if it had been Boe, he'd'a been heading out for who knows where... I'm pretty sure that he hadn't realized that Cleo would bulldoze her way out the gate if she got an inch, she does that with any door too.

I'm walking on it, so a pretty good indication that it isn't too serious. The wife wanted to know if she needed to call my back up to hook her up later, but its my leg not my hands that I hurt. And since I'm walking on it I don't see that I need to go to the ER or anything.

I'm up and moving, that's more than I thought I would be right after I fell. I'm beginning to ache, but really that's not a surprise is it?
