'School' is 'Education' the same way 'Study of The Weapons-Forge' is 'Battle-Training'

It's the difference between theory & practice ... EXCEPT the people who give you the theories are 'usually' "soldiers coming off the field, who have SEEN how the weapons work and who are actually 'reporting' (as opposed to reciting)." https://preformus.blogspot.com/2018/10/education-sacredtexts-educate-educated.html I feel like I need to 'put this distinction out here' because too many people are blurring-the-line between "School" & "Education" ... Oh, what a happy world we would live-in if that were the case! But part of the function of a school is that it separates you from reality! Oh, good schools like my alma mater Oklahoma City University help students make the change from 'School-life' to 'REAL life'; but 'recent activity at another university in Oklahoma' (about which I'll do another post) reveals that "theory" doesn't always work in "practice." But first I want to show you this 'advertisement' I saw in the Oklahoma Gazette--from Oklahoma City University ("EDUCATING OKC SINCE 1904"), trumpeting the satisfying acheivements of a "STAR Alumnus" (OCU--formerly 'The Chiefs'--are now 'The Stars'). The ad reads, "Bridget Poputa Clean, BA and BSB `11, came to Oklahoma City University in hopes of becoming a Broadway producer and a finance executive. Today, she is a mom, a cancer survivor and a successful banking-professional. "After arriving at Oklahoma City University, Poputa Clean decided to double-major in business and mass-communications. She says the multifaceted education she received helped her prepare for many aspects of her career. "'The liberal arts education made me a more well-rounded individual,' she said, adding that the faculty and staff profoundly impacted her life. "'There were so many professors and staff who made an impact not only on my education, but also on my personhood,' she said. 'They made my time so comfortable, enjoyable & safe. They still inform so much of how I think and work.' "Poputa Clean in a sales development specialist for Prosperity Bank. She is in her seventh year with the company, including one year with its corporate-merger predecessor, Coppermark Bank. "Outside of the office, Bridget enjoys serving the Oklahoma City community. She is active with Junior Achievement (through Prosperity Bank), and she volunteers with the Central Oklahoma Food Bank and the Festival of the Arts. She also serves as captain of the bank's rowing team." Oklahoma City University surely 'made her into a worthy force on the field,' but only because she-&-they gained sure wisdom out in The Real World!

Wise words, yeah it's true that sometimes theory doesn't put into practice. Like in our profession.

I think a balanced life is good. Academic and real-world education both have their place.
