Lerynne West, 51 is a lucky lady who won the grand prize in the Powerball drawing on October 27 winning $343.9 million dollars since a lottery winner in New York won the other half of the $687 million dollars.
Lerynn and her sister bought lottery tickets, pizza and coffee at Casey's General Store in Redfield Iowa.
The catch was that Lerynne left the winning ticket inside her sister's truck when she learned that she won the grand prize.
It is a good thing that Lerynne did not lose the winning lottery ticket since after taxes she will earn $181.9 million dollars.
Lerynne will use her winnings to assist her relatives and her community.
The day she bought the wining lottery ticket was the day that she was moving into her new home.

Just like when the record 1 billion pesos was won in the Philippine sweepstakes, there were two winners also.

That is nice to know about lottery winnings in your homeland.

Wow, taxes will catch up with you! It's so nice what Lerynn wants to do with her winnings! Congratulations to Lerynn! We don't have any lottery on island. It was brought up in the Gov.'s debate.

Taxes do take a huge bite out of the gross winnings. That is one reason I do not play lotteries besides money being tight here.

Oh my! The tax was for $162 million dollars.
Here I think, it's tax free. I don't know because I haven't won any yet.
But here, the winner want to be anonymous, lest the robbers and kidnappers will be after her. It's risky when you are know to be a winner in a lottery which is the so called Lotto here.

Taxes for lottery winnings in America are "highway robbery" as the late baseball announcer Milo Hamilton would say.

Taxes sure suck up much of the winnings.

That is what bothers me if I ever won the huge lottery jackpot. The tax money would shave my earnings big time.

Wow, they take a lot out in taxes...but I'd still be happy with 181.9 million!!

If I had $181.9 million, I would donate it to my relatives and buy things that we need and not waste it on wants.

@Deepizzaguy I wouldn't waste it either, and I would give to family if I could...but I have some other things that I would definitely buy too!
