Upheaval and Chaos

Over the past few days our home has been the scene of unrivalled upheavel and chaos. We are having a major internal revamp involving painters and decorators, plasterers, carpet fitters and a whole host of other tradesmen - some of whom specialise in obscure activities like granite worktop chip/crack repair or 'low level mood lighting' (whatever that is). I have not been involved in this to any great extent. I leave such activities to my personal 'Feng Shui' and 'Home Improvement' adviser and do my best not to get in anyone's way. Hopefully, I'll be allowed to walk on the new floorings when it's all over!

Only if you take your shoes off first!!! We're considering major work on our house if we decide to stay in it. When I say major I mean major. A re-wire, re-plastering everywhere, new bathroom suite, new kitchen, new boiler, new decking outside!! I think we might be best off moving out for a couple of months!

@ThreeTeddies We're thinking of rentimg a caravan for a couple of months in Lytham St. Annes. It's only about an hours drive away so we'd be able to pop back every few days to keep an eye on things.

@WorDazza My eldest son spent six months there on one of his postings. We visited him and were very impressed with the town. Blackpool is next door but we weren't impressed with that!

@WorDazza Wish we'd moved out but there's no way my missus would have left the house unsupervised for any length of time

You think you got problems at 10 AM this morning I was woken up by the crew that is repairing this house and it sounded like they were taking a sledgehammer to the house and everything was shaking. Right now they are busy drilling. Hope everything goes alright with your house.

I sure hope the renovators there are more dependable than most here. That's why my husband decided to rebuild our garage himself, although your projects are more than one person could do. Best wishes, don't kill each other, and eventually you'll enjoy your new home.

That happened to us say, about 5 yrs ago. Didn't think much about it, but now looking back, I am a bit like, 'wow, how did we survive those days?!!!'
