30 Day Song Challenge Day 24: A song by a band you wish would get back together

Of the bands that I've loved that broke up, I think most of them had their reasons. Getting them back together would be like a divorced couple coming back together. You may have thought they were great back then, but it just would not be the same. This band that I have chosen is from the not too distant past. It was mostly a side-gig for the participants. They did one album together, released in 2014. The band and the album have the same name, “Trigger Hippy.” The band included Black Crowes drummer, Steve Gorman, singer Joan Osborne, guitarist, Tom Bukovac, bassist Nick Govrik, singer-guitarist-keyboardist Jackie Greene. The band may even still exist, but without Jackie Greene and Joan Osborne. I love Jackie Greene and Joan Osborne singing together. I'd be satisfied with that.
Pre-order Trigger Hippy's self-titled debut, available September 30 on Rounder Records. Amazon: http://smarturl.it/TriggerHippyCD iTunes: http://smarturl.it/...

How did I know you would say this? They are not super famous, and they don't exist anymore. How about the Black Crowes? Have you heard of them? What about Joan Osborne (what if God was one of us)?

@norcal I know Black Crowes and Joan Osborne. We can't all know every band name there ever was.

@JohnRoberts Of course not. This is not a very well known band, and not many people will know them. I'm sure you know tons of bands that I have not heard of. Sorry if that sounded weird. I guess I just wonder what that means sometimes. Does it mean they must not be very good if you haven't heard of them? That's what some people mean when they say that.

That's a fun song! I'm thinking of the Bee Gees. They broke up, got back together and had some amazing songs after. Most don't get back together but a few have done so successfully.

They were brothers. Maybe that makes a difference.

Sometimes the side projects are fun, and a good “release” from the “pressures” of the “main act.” Tom Tom Club started that way, as a “side project” when Talking Heads was on hiatus. In one regard, Talking Heads is one band I do wish would get back together; but, on the other hand, I appreciate the fact that they are at peace with their past. Their break-up was very nasty, but they reunited for their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction and gave themselves, and their fans, a “happy ending” (as Chris Frantz said).

@norcal -- you consider bands like the Eagles (or what's left of them, which is one original member), who are obviously only doing it for money, and I can totally appreciate bands who do move on...even if the fans don't necessarily understand.

That's nice too, if a band can put the past away and get together for some special occasion. I can see too why band's don't want to live in the past, and play those same old song that fans love. Most musicians are creative types, so they are more interested in what they are doing now.

I think most people would say the same. Still, I think they are great.
