Is it right for court cases to be discussed on TV?

Some cultures have a law that people must be given a fair trial before they can be declared guilty or innocent of a crime. These days it is so common to see news in papers or on TV about crimes, both of common people and celebrities, that the word of why a person is on trial is out before they ever go on trial. If it is a heinous and gory crime, the news coverage is even worse. If the person is a celebrity, the situation is discussed on talk shows and in all kinds of news media. I say there is no longer any such thing as a fair and impartial jury and a fair trial.

To a certain extent i think it should be discussed. we need to know whats going on around us, but blowing it way out of proportion like the media does is not necessary.. so a celebrity gets into a fender bender, who cares, if i get ino a fender bender, its not all over magazines and the news. I think its wrong that we exploit celebs like we do.

Like when a politician gets hemmeroids or vomits, (both from actual events), there is NO privacy. In that way, I am glad it's not happening to me that way. You are right, it's not just court cases and crimes, but every life event of a celeb gets blown up out of proportion.

Like george bush choking on a pretzel. Im sure I have choked on a pretzel before and noone took pictures and videos of me.. I feel bad for people who are in the "lime light" no privacy at all!!

I feel there is no harm in that, if a person gets justice then public will have increased faith in the judiciary of the country.

I am sorry, but in this case I don't agree with you. Thanks for replying, though, I am sure there are others who disagree with me also.

I have to admit, there are some cases you want to know about, and well I've watched the coverage on tv. We had the Westerfield case and I watched it everyday. I know I'm disgusting. lol

No, if the court case is on going. Yes, if its purpose is for academic learning.
