i love my roku.so many things to watch..it's a treat after years of cable. and YOU get to pick what you want to watch. many channels run movies from other countries, and some are in the original language. now,if it's interesting enough,i'll still watch it. but.. hour upon hour of a language i don't understand can get old. some have subtitles, some don't. but even subtitles can get old. i prefer overdubbing. back in the day,if we wanted to watch japanime,it was always on smuggled out VHS format-the cartoons were brilliant, but close to zero being translated, unlike nowadays where the market is so big, they dub it into english for you. although some shows, you still want to see the original if possible.american tv seems to be pretty heavy handed on the censorship. but the question here is- will you still watch a show if it's really good, even if you don't understand a word of it?

No, I wouldn't. I don't mind subtitles because I always have the closed-caption setting on. I'm not hard of hearing; but some of the sound production is not clear and some people mumble.

@scarlet_woman I got tired of trying to figure out what they were saying; and turning it up didn't help because they weren't pronouncing their words; so I use the closed captions. My husband hates it; but he has his own TV; so there!

I prefer overdubbing too. I hate to try to watch the movie while reading the dialogue!!

I watched a lot of Korean Movies and few south Indian Telugu movies (I do not know telugu) with subtitles . I am sure I would not watch any show or movies with out subtitles unless it`s English or Hindi.

No. When it comes to watching a movie, if it is not translated it does nothing for me. I can't stand subtitles either.
