Thought I'd Better Check In: Here's Where I've Been.

My New Logo, designed on PicMonkey

I've been operating in overwhelm mode for a couple of weeks. I've gone back to bookselling online. I need my house back. It won't just clear itself. I have thousands of dollars worth of children's books and teacher resources and education workbooks filling my living room and garage and a warehouse and the upstairs of our rural home we moved out of. I've been trying to proofread all the entries in my book database so that I will only upload titles I can actually get my hands on immediately to ship if they are ordered. I have finished the first 4,500 entries and have another 1,500 entries to go. Then I have to double check what remains for mistakes or omissions and upload to Biblo, a used bookselling site for independent book dealers. I also have some books listed on a listing site just for homeschoolers. All the listings I have so far between the sites are manual with photos. I didn't want to have an empty store on Biblio while I was cleaning out the database. Between the two sites I have only 87 books listed. Of those I've sold 4. So I guess I'm officially a bookseller again. During the last two weeks I've been busy with this venture for 10-12 hours a day and I've barely have time to eat, sleep, and take care of basic grooming. It's a rush to upload while teachers may still be shopping for supplemental materials. After that I will take things slower. I haven't written anywhere except my one post that I was committed to at ReviewThis! last week. To open my store at Biblio I needed a logo. I tried making one that was supposed to be free at Free Logo Services. The catch was that they let me design it for free but wanted me to pay for it before I could actually download it and use it. So instead I went to PicMonkey, where I already pay for a pro plan. I found an image at Pixabay I have always liked and made a logo I like much better than the one I made on Free (?) Logo Services. I shared it as the photo here. What do you think? So this is my check-in post. I expect to be very busy for the next couple of weeks. I want to upload by Friday at the latest. Wednesday would be even better. I'm sure there will be some bugs to work out initially and and lots of photos to add individually to listings. It took 25 years to create the listings in that database and now I'm going through them nonstop 10-12 hours a day. It's a real walk down memory lane. I just wanted all my friends here to know I'm still alive and well. I know I always am concerned when I don't see a regular here for quite a while. I'm going back now to see what my friends have been posting. This is my Sabbath and I'm taking a day off from work related to the business to relax, read, and socialize a bit. At sundown I'll get back to the database. It's a special database called Booktrakker designed just for booksellers. I've been using it for twenty years. How are you spending your day? Is it as hot where you are as it is here today? My phone says it's 94F outside right now. It's been even hotter the rest of the week.

I like the logo you created, very nice. We had a heatwave the last week of July, but now the temperature is nice and cool.

It cooled off here, today, too. That's good, because doing heavy physical work in a room that's almost triple digits is very hard.

@LadyDuck It's not easy when our husbands don't feel well. Mine sometimes sits in his PJ's all day, but most days he does get out to exercise. I see him getting more feeble and it worries me.

Thank you for the encouragement. If this doesn't kill me I will probably grow stronger muscles and lose some weight. I'm getting a lot more exercise and I hardly have time to cook or eat. I'm hoping by next week things will settle down a bit.

Glad you are doing ok. I hope you get a lot of the books sold fast. It has been warm but not that bad here. I have been decluttering again.

I don't think selling books ever really goes fast, but I'm selling some. Still haven't got the first upload of my database ready to go online. Funny how life seems to throw obstacles in our path. Hope to get the upload done tomorrow. I think I need to get some sleep soon.

Thank you. I will never get all these books sold. I probably won't even get half of them listed before I die. My brother will have a lot to clean up after I'm gone.

It is. My 76 year old body is having trouble keeping up with this pace. It's not all just sitting at a computer as writing is. It's hoisting 30-pound boxes through small doorways and somehow getting them out to the car. It's carrying smaller boxes up and down stairs. I used to do this every day, but my body is no longer used to those stairs. But I did sell another book today. I'm still trying to get my data base ready to upload. I had hoped to finish that yesterday, but I just couldn't.
