Oh snap! Covid cases have tripled over a two week period.

My morning cup of coffee was rendered a bit more bitter this morning by a news story stating that Covid cases have risen substantially in the US over a two week period. Apparently, only about 55% of the US population has had at least one vaccination, and most of the new cases are among the non-vaccinated. Do you know people who have not been vaccinated? Do you treat them differently than those who have been vaccinated? I'm going to be a bit more conservative over the next few weeks. I was being a bit cavalier bout wearing my mask in businesses that no longer require them.
The seven-day rolling average for daily new cases rose over the past two weeks to more than 37,000 on Tuesday.

Yes, I know people not vaccinated, one is my husband and he cannot be vaccinated. Why should I treat him differently? I know many vaccinated that are now contaminated.

@TheHorse Masks are mandatory inside everywhere, I always wear my mask, I disinfect my hands, the handle of the supermarket cart before touching it and I remove my shoes as I step inside the house. I want to protect myself, but I MUST pay attention because I need to protect my husband. Anyway he had two Covid tests last Monday at the hospital and he is negative.

I don't worry about my "inner circle." But I'm going to get more cautious when I go out.

@LadyDuck I'm glad to hear he is negative. I don't wear a mask in my house. But I rarely have visitors.

The numbers have gone insanely high here. We were down to 40 something cases a day and as of today we had over 1300 . Yesterday it was 1200 something.

@TheHorse I’m in Mississippi, but they are careless here as well. They don’t want to be vaccinated and think the virus is make believe.

Florida has a "bad reputation" as far as Covid goes. Are people generally a bit careless there?

Opening up amidst 55% with single vaccination was not a good solution. So in a way this was expected. In India we now have close to 410 Million with single dose and almost 90 Million being fully vaccinated. Yet we still have 35k plus daily cases so still no time to relax.

@TheHorse The situation was in dire straits from April to Mid June. It is better now but there are concerns in a few states. Plus in some tourist places, people flocked in high numbers raising high infection figures risk. Yet now authorities are penalizing or otherwise being strict with the defaulters. So still not the time to be complacent.

@TheHorse You would have to be in mask all the time in Montana perhaps.

Be very careful of this Delta variant. It is airborne, and can affect even those who have taken both jabs. It seems to enter from above the nose or side mostly. Do use those sanitizers every time you touch your face, and do be very very careful. Make others also follow extra precautions. Since you wear glasses, you are better protected. We are using shields in addition.

@vandana7 I go out wearing a shield. I even drive the car wearing it. Some people seem to look at me with some surprise. Some do not care. But I think it is worth it.

We are now up to 2700+ new cases as of yesterday . You and I know plenty of kids under 12 (including my son) who are not eligible to get vaccinated yet. And I do know some adults who completely refuse to get vaccinated, but we don't see them in person.

@TheHorse All the things you usually hear. They say there hasn't been long term studies with these vaccines, we don't know what's in it or what they could do, it's government control, our own immune systems are strong enough, etc etc.

@TheHorse at first the reason was the availability of the vaccine. But now I think it is the slowness of how the process of getting vaccinated. I think we have more vaccines now available

I don't know anyone who has or has not had the vac, I keep mostly to myself and just chose not to have the vac. I guess people just got so happy to be out and about they forgot to be careful, That is not good news at all,

@TheHorse when I do get out I avoid crowds and our streets here are mostly empty. So I can get to the nearest convenience store and not meet anyone on the way and sometimes the store has only one or two customers, But a great deal of the time I am at home and I have someone to get me thing if I need them,

That is indeed a bad news. The virus continues to mutate .In the city where I live, there are now from 6 to 12 Delta variant infected. We are scared here I feel so nervous and my first vaccine sched will be next week for I am waiting for the AstraZeneca . I won't get vaccinated with Sinovac. There stocks of this kind, people in Ph do not like to get injected with this kind.

I do not have any local figures, but as we have relaxed and let our guard down the cases have spread. I have read that if you have been vaccinated and still get covid, the case is much milder. We have been to a lot of hospitals and clinics, and they require masks. Other places not so much so I kind of go 50-50 there.Sometimes I wear a mask. Sometimes I wish I was wearing a mask.

The only person in the US I know who has been not been vaccinated in one of my nephews..He is a bit on the odd side though. He is somewhat anti social or perhaps painfully shy or maybe a combination of both. He thinks he will not get vaccinated. It is nutty if you ask me.

if in the US the increase in those who have not been vaccinated in my country is evenly distributed, both those who have not been vaccinated, have been vaccinated 1x or 2 times, I have also been infected and always use a double mask in public places and my workplace. I had been shoot twice 3 months ago
