Laughing at the same joke twice.

I find it so annoying that our bodies as humans are made in a way to remember painful things more vividly than beautiful things. I get it's in order for our specie to survive but it's still hard to live that way. I try to focus everyday on the beautiful side of life but the painful stuff keeps jumping in strongly. You just can't laugh at the same joke twice but OMG you can cry over the same thing again and again. So unfair. Does it happen to you ? How do you deal with this ?

@Babino I think they do. It is how I broke free from being an introvert.

Yes life is very unfair I agree with you. We tend to remember the bad so sad.

It's natural to feel low or bad about something again. What's important is to move on in life. It has happened to me as well. I now just try to be happy in life. Anyways one doesn't get anything by remembering bad stuff apart from pain. It isn't worth it

Very good observation, but I laugh at the same joke twice if I listen to it after a considerable amount of days and the joke is that good. Also, some comedians have such a special ability to deliver the punchlines, that you cannot but laugh at the joke even if it is an old one.

Feeling down and be happy is mismatch. It's impossible.

I can laugh at the same joke many times,as long as the joke is really my type.but seldom cry over twice at the same tragic stroy.

It does happen. I think a good way to preserve good memories is by maintaining a journal or a dairy and noting everything that's going well or was a great memory. By reading the journal, you can then relive the good moments in life

I keep stories on Instagram instead. I make sure I never share any sad story, whenever I go see my old stories I remember how happy my month/year was.

It is hard to know if that is really true, as when we undergo hypnosis, for example, we are asked to remember a happy, beautiful experience from the day before, and then when we relive this in our mind, it relaxes us, and we can make a leap then from that springboard back into our past, and relive some past traumas more comfortably then too. Pain can linger, but happiness is more of the moment, and we can stop pain lingering, by remembering past it to underlying feelings of happiness, which brings us back to the now. It is said that we cannot think of two things simultaneously, but we sure can feel two things, at the same time, and remembering good things in our thoughts, displaces the bad lingering painful thoughts aside, and the bad feelings are nursed then, with the good feelings, then as well too.
