Song for the Year

As I think about the end of the year, I was thinking 2020, was not a good year. I did not really think 2021 would be better and it proved me right. I do not have high hopes for 22, I think it will be more of the same. I think we are in for a bumpy few years. I was thinking about a song to sum up 2021. If I were more positive about 2022, I might say, Don't back down-the late Tom Petty, riding the store out-REO speedwagon, or I'm Still Standing-Elton John. All are very positive songs. But not really how I am thinking of 2021. I thought about Paint it Black-Rolling Stones, End of the World-REM, or Welcome to my Nightmare-Alice Cooper. They would all fit very well. But, then I remembered one more that sums it up, very very well, in fact perfect. Circle the Drain-Machine Head. Yes, that's the one that sums up 2021. If you look up Circle the Drain, remember to look for Radio version. So what is your song that sums up 2021?

I don't listen to music but I agree that 2022 is going to be a repeat of 2021. I wish it weren't. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and you're all healthy.

I was sick for about 3 weeks, it was so strange, I am never sick that long. I had a cold, my mother came to visit with the flu, so I got hers on top of mine. fun days

i was just in the store trying to get ribs, or something to celebrate hubbys birthday, the prices are just so high. the shelves are still bare.

I remember one my grandmother used to sing that probably no one here ever heard . I think it must be very old But you pretty well covered most all I do sometimes think the world might be ending

So I think about grandma singing "God handed down by the rainbow sign No more water but the fire next time " No idea why I think on that

I do think about that as well, I just keep thinking, dont worry, just keep doing your thing. I am a worrier though, so it is hard

@mom210 I am with you ever since the corona came into our lives things have not been good and I wonder when this virus will end. I do not see it ending soon either and wondering when it will get better and how it will be when it finally ends. I really do not have a song to sum of 2021 or can think of one.

I hope 2022 will be a little bit better than 2021, I want to have a positive attitude and think the this year will bring the end of the pandemic. I actually don't know which songs sums up 2021.

I like all of your choices and wish your positive songs were the ones we could focus on. But with the way the country is being run, a poor economy, rising prices and now a Russian maniac starting a possible World War I'm not feeling very confident. So, it would have to be a negative titled song. How about "Another Nail In My Heart" by Squeeze, "Beware of Darkness" George Harrison, "Evil Ways" Santana, or "Flirtin' With Diaster" Molly Hatchet.. Good post

yes, all good choices as well. I find myself turning to music so much more these days to help me release some of my anger and stress. I m very glad we still have our tunes.

I try, but I think the last couple years have sucked the positive out of me and this year is turning out to be very worrisome with bare shelves and inflation.

Paint it Black is a song that I have always loved and it's perfect for year 2021. I just commented to another post that I do not believe at all that 2022 will be better, the user said "we can always hope..." I think it is better to be realistic.
