Betty White started acting in 1939 and continued up until today when she passed away at the age of 99. She was set to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 17th and there was some kind of one-day-only birthday celebration planned for movie theaters on that day. She was in like a zillion different productions over many decades but is probably best known for her role as Rose Nylund in The Golden Girls back in the 1980s. She also had a very prominent role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show but I've never seen that so I can't really comment on it. She won 8 Emmy awards during her career. Somehow her popularity increased in the last decade of her life. I think she did a Super Bowl commercial. She was in a sitcom. There were references to her all over Facebook and Twitter. That must have been crazy for someone born in 1922. Rest peacefully Ms. White. You will be missed.

She was the fourth cast member of The Mary Tyler Moore Show to die this year. That may be a record that I never want to see repeated. I loved her Snickers commercial (and Abe Vigoda at the end!).

How sad! When I first read this I thought at first it might be a sick hoax but after going to Twitter I discovered it's too true. She'll sure be missed, she was one of a kind.
