Do You Love Lasagna?

Me, not too much but hubby does. He bought a huge pack of frozen lasagna from Aldi. I only had to bake it in the oven. As I don’t like Lasagna much, I made veggie salad with lettuce and tomatoes but I added Krautsalad and Kimchi. I just added olive oil, salt, pepper and parsley in the mixture. When I ate my small portion of Lasagna with my mixed salad, it was so delicious. (Photo) That was the taste I love. An hour later, my tummy was making noise. I suppose the Italian, German and Korean food inside me were fighting each other. Gladfully, I didn’t have stomachache. What do you eat with your lasagna?

Have not tried lasagna yet. But that looks like so many veggies. But hope you enjoyed your Lasagna

Mostly, lasagna is made with wide noodles, cheeses and meats in different layers. It does have tomatoes, onions and garlic but the sauce looks more like the sauce on my spaghetti than anything else. Lasagna is delicious!

@DevMrSamEleazar The lasagna is the one in the middle of the plate in that photo. The veggies are the scattered salad around the lasagna.

I love lasagna, but I do try to make homemade whenever possible. A salad makes a good accompaniment (a better balanced meal ).

@thelme55 It kinda is, the way I make it anyway. Too many steps. Unless everything is already pre-done (sauce, no cook lasagna, grated cheese). I like to make enough for at least 2 meals for the family.

@much2say It sounds a lot to do but well, I am always cooking here for dinner if we have no leftover. I think I will check online how to make lasagna. It might be better than the ready made one from the supermarket.

@thelme55 Italians never accompany any kind of pasta with a salad or any kind of vegetables. We eat the pasta always and only alone in our dish. This is how we serve lasagne (or lasagna if you prefer, but we call them lasagne, because they are composed by several layers and not only one).

I am sure than your homemade lasagna is delicious @LadyDuck. Maybe I would make myself to treat my hubby but I have to research it how it is made. I don’t know how the Italians eat their lasagna. Thanks for the info.

I have tried several types of frozen lasagna served by friends and so forth. I've never had a ready made lasagna that I thought tasted very good. I just make my own. Yes, it's time consuming, but I always make more than one, and freeze one for another meal. If I am going to make that big mess, I may as well make 2 big meals with. We usually eat ours with some type of garlic bread and a tossed salad.

@thelme55 I honestly am very dependent on my garage freezer. It saves me so much time and money, and allows me to fix things ahead for really busy days.

@thelme55 I just make it without the meat so it’s ricotta cheese, marinara sauce, lasagna noodles, parsley, ricotta cheese, an egg or however many it calls for, mozzarella cheese etc. I have a delicious recipe for summer lasagna that has white sauce and lots of vegetables. I haven’t made it in about 15 years or more and it’s on my to do list to make it again.
