Hello everyone! Hope you are doing fine . It's late evening here .Taking a pill as a kid is big sad task for me when I was in childhood . Whenever I get sick and got fever i ask doctor to prescribe a small pill .I'm even ready to take injection than taking tablet .my brother is also same .he used to crush the tablet into powder and mix little bit water .I don't know how he finds it easy way . It suits for him . I can't bare the bitterness so i used to take the tab with sugar . I was doing that for years . Now there are easy tips for kids to take pill like keeping pill in banana and eat them . Whats your childhood memories with taking a pill or if you have kids, how you make me your kids to swallow pill ?. Image credit Google

Not sure where you grew up but in the US you got liquid depending on what you are sick with. Fever they have fever reducer in liquid until you hit a certain age then your body is able to take the adult size and that would be a pill. I do take pills now as an adult. My 12 year old daughter does the same she actually dry swallows most pills. Me on the other hand need a drink to swallow my pills so I put the pills in my mouth and than take a sip of my drink and down it all goes.

@Icydoll US has many forms of medication, liquid, jell pills, soft tabled pills, or hard plastic pills with the meds inside. Some meds come as dissolvable on your tounge or in your mouth. Some meds are do by breathing them in by an inhaler

As a kid I do not remember how I was fed with pills but now I swallow it with water. For pets I used to place the pill in between a piece of meat

I still have trouble taking tablets but I'm better than I was. I usually chew up a biscuit or piece of bread then pop the pill in the middle of it and swallow.

I can't even take a pill with a banana. Tried many times until now still can not. You know me when you use a banana once you swallow the pill it stays in your mouth. Ahaha. So, for me it's easier if I just use plain water.

I can't remember how I first started to take the pills, but I remember when I was about 6 years old, I could already take up to 6 capsules. I remember this as I wanted to take one more capsules (7 capsules), but I failed to do so as the capsules stuck in my throat. I quickly drank more water to swallow the capsules. Since then, I just took up to 6 capsules. The capsules I took were Chinese medicine and very bitter, glad that I was fine with the bitterness. I can't remember taking tablets when I was young. Perhaps we mostly took the liquid form when we were sick as kids. I only let my eldest take medicine when he was a toddler, and that was liquid. He refused to drink the liquid even I mixed with water or Ribena. I gave up, and since then I haven't bring my kids to the doctor and they do not need to take any pills at least until now. I really have no idea how to teach the kids to swallow the pills.

I had to take penicillin when I was young, because I was born with a heart defect. I also took flouride pills, but by the time I started taking them, I think I was too old for them to have an effect. I grew up near the city so we had flouride in our water anyway.

I have never had a problem taking pills as a kid. My problem was taking the liquid syrups and medicines that the docs gave. Would quietly throw them in the sink.

Omg! It's indeed a difficult task. When I was a kid, my mom used to powder the tablet, mix it with a little bit of sugar & water & would give me. I don't like having tablets at all. Even now, I don't prefer taking tablets, if I fall sick. But sadly it needs to be taken, if we wish to heal soon.

I couldn't swallow pills when I was a kid. My parents also dissolve it first in water so that I can take them. These are usually medicines for fever in tablet or capsule form and sometimes pain relievers and antibiotics too when the syrup is not available. In that case, i rather take them in liquid form, that is,dissolved in water ...and they taste bad.. but taking the tablet and capsules scared me more..

My 11 year-old niece was trying to do it for the first time, a few nights before today due to sore throat that just developed late in the night and she had to sleep or at least wake up the next day, with it not so painful because she has school. I dont know if she was able to do it though because no matter how much I say it will be ok to just swallow, she was so anxious. I was worried that her nervousness will cause her to choke on the pill..

It scares me still sometimes but as an adult we get used to it . They are many forms of tabs available now which is chewable tablets with some flavors added . Some tablets dissolve in the mouth itself after drinking a sip of water . That moment I feel yuck

When I was little, when I was sick, I would secretly throw away the medicine, saying that I had drunk it even though I threw it away. Ahaha. The problem is I'm tired of the bitter taste that there is.

When I was a kid, we took the same pills that are offered now to adults. I would just toss it into my mouth and drink some water with it. The pill went down. When Pretty was little, there were liquid medicines with a lid that you could use to measure the medicine with. The kid just drank the medicine down. (Pretty preferred cherry flavor medicine.)

I just remember always having to dread taking pills as a kid, even though I don't think it happened very often. Now, as a grown adult, I have to take pills both in the morning and at night time (more so at night, before bed). Since I take them so often now, it is no problem for me at all.
