And so....the saga continues

Whether it's Murphys Law or the old saying "When it rains it pours" both seem to be right for me. My son brought the new part for the hot water tank last night and it figures that it didn't do the trick. We need a whole new hot water heater and he'll be able to install it on Tuesday. We have a few more days to deal with no hot water but at least we can shower at my daughters house. That's a bit inconvenient but at least we have an option. For the past two days the microwave has been tripping the circuit breaker. So, when my son was here last night he tested both the outlet and the microwave and it's the microwave. You guessed it...we need a new microwave. UGH Two expenses I didn't expect. Tuesday will be a fun day here. The new hot water heater will be installed and the new microwave will be mounted above the stove. Good thing my son can do all this work and he doesn't charge me for labor. Heck I didn't charge him for labor when he was born

Not having hot water is a serious problem, particularly in winter. Even washing our hands with cold water is not pleasant.

@Marilynda1225 I agree, being without heat would surely be worse.

It's challenging not having hot water but we're making it work. Heating water on the stove is helping just not convenient. Being without heat would be worse

Sounds like you're going through what we went through! You should save a ton by having your son purchase and install the new hot water heater. Ours cost $1,585. Sorry you had to get a new microwave too. It definitely pours when it rains. Have a great weekend.

I'm very lucky my son can do the work so that saves a lot of money. I've been thinking about you every day knowing you didn't have heat in addition to your hot water problem. At least we have heat. Hope you're having a good weekend

That is too bad that you got a double whammie of bad news, but that means that you will have good news coming too I hope.

@Marilynda1225 You talk about your double whammies, we have the twins for their first sleepover tonight. Funny how they were not ready for bed at their bedtime but Granddaddy and I were. I hope that we all sleep through the night. The girls should because we all played quite a bit this afternoon, but then again, every house has its own unique sounds that can wake us.

Your labour should by rights have cost at least as much as his!! I just hope a third thing doesn't go wrong.

Guess those old sayings have a bit of truth to them. I'm very lucky my son can do all this otherwise I"d be paying way more than just parts, etc

I'm lucky for sure that i have a son who is a plumber/electrician. I'd be up the creek if he had decided to be something else.

You are so funny...lol. I will have to remember that one the next time I see my kids. I'm also glad that you have your son there to do the work for you. Paying for labor can be quite expensive.

Did you tell you son that joke? If you did, I'm sure he laughed, too.

I use that joke on all my kids when I pull out the "mommy" card but for him it works even better. My labor certainly was more costly than what he charges

I'm getting tired of having to heat water on the stove for dishes etc and what a pain not to have a microwave. My son and daughter in law are away for the weekend while I'm going back and forth to my daughters for a shower. Tuesday can't come fast enough

@Marilynda1225 Today your problems should be over. I remember suffering through power outages during hurricanes until we had a generator installed.

No, but the hospital did. I'm sorry you need a new hot water heater and microwave. Hopefully, they won't be too expensive.

Very true about the hospital bill After 3 girls it was a nice surprise that they said "it's a boy" It's frustrating not having hot water but it's manageable. Certainly better than not having heat.

You're lucky to have your son doing all the work. I spent a fortune when there was a pipe leakage in my place. Enjoy the new hot water heater and the microwave.

Any plumbing issues can be very expensive so I'm fortunate in that respect. It's still costly but not nearly what it would be if I had to call in someone to fix it

Oh man it definitely does seem like things like that always wind up going at the same time. It usually comes in sets of three things with me.

You are so lucky, having your son to help out. Mine is a bit useless so far (his talent is not in that area).
