Would you want to live forever?

A Google scientist who has been right about a number of other predictions says immortality can be achieved by 2030. Interesting, in that he doesn't seem to have a medical background. I personally have always expected to die, and not that it is something I am looking forward to, I accept it as inevitable. I don't think I could afford to live forever. I don't think the world can support people living forever. I mean what quality of life would you have when you are 110? Umm...I will save the living forever to other people.

The only way I would want that much life is if I could remain young and healthy long enough to enjoy it.

I would want to be able to afford it. Old and poor does not sound like fun.

Poor in general doesn't sound good, I've been borderline poor most of my adult life, the jobs I've had paid just enough for bills and food but usually I'd have trouble finding enough money to afford shoes and clothes let alone other things.

No, I don't think I'd want to live forever... I'm having enough health problems already and I'm still not 60 years old yet...

@snowy22315 I go through a bag of oranges every two weeks and usually two or three bunches of bananas. I also eat canned cherries and oranges at times.

Honestly, I don't think I'd really want to live forever. It's not something that is appealing to me.

What is he talking about? I am sorry but I do not believe it is possible. Well I don't want to die, but it is going to happen.

Ya got me. He isn't even a doctor. Maybe he thinks AI is going to solve all our medical problems.

@RebeccasFarm I mean there are still going to be car crashes where people are killed instantly, murders and the like..no way can all deaths be eliminated.

We are already too many on this earth... can you imagine what a terrible life all people would encounter should we all live forever.

The earth has too many problems to support people living forever.

@snowy22315 This is also my opinion and we are supposed to "live forever" only in afterlife, that should be better than this one.

I am sure there are many like me who do not think their kids would have any future so refrained from bringing them into world...where are the jobs, and to live in pollution...yuck. So now that I am old and retired, it is difficult to plan forever ...financially too. I definitely would want to quit the scene by 75 or so.

My family is long lived, and I expect to live another 30 years or so...but that will be plenty...no desire to live beyond that. Besides what kind of shape will this planet be in then?

I would want to remain healthy and in good shape if I could live forever. That would over populate the world more than it is now.

No I would not want to live forever. They always say you only have 1 life, so make the most of it. Also, I have seen the movie "Bicentenial Man" with the late great Robin Williams. He was a robot who could live forever. He lived for a long time and kept seeing all his loved ones leave him. He decided to become human and die with his beloved. I have already accepted that when my time comes, it is what it is, whatever comes afterwards.

If by 2030, I will stay 54 forever for life, then I would take the chance but if you live longer and get old, no way I would to live my life depending on people because I am sickly or frail and old.

Biblically life span of human being is seventy years, if the creator favours you he can add you a bonus of another thirty years... scientist are trying to prove Bible wrong and i don't trust them.

I have to disagree with you, many people in the old testament lived to be well over 100. Abraham for one.

If I could be perfectly healthy, not be frail and in pain definitely like to live a really long life but forever probably not. I don’t think this man will be correct on this one.

Right, living forever is not my cup of tea too - unless I stay as a 25-year-old human being. 2030 is a bit early for immortality, I think.
