Some of you may know that I had an appointment today with my endocrinologist. I figured it would go pretty bad because I did not try very hard these past 3 months. Luckily, it went better than I thought - still not great but we'll get to that. Weigh in - as suspected I did go up in weight again, only 4 pounds in 3 months...but in 6 months I have probably gained 40 pounds. The doctor thinks it is just over eating, which he could be right. And I have worked out some, but not consistently. A1c results - went from 10.5 to 8.5; so I did improve some there. It is still too high, but definitely better than 10.5. The doctor did some lab work, mostly to check my kidney function. Last time he was concerned I could have damaged them. The numbers on the tests 3 months ago were elevated quite a bit. Today, they were normal - well except for the blood protein - but that could simply be because of dehydration. His idea on the weight loss mostly is to cut back on calories. He estimated how much I was over eating, and then gave me a number to cut the calories by (500). He said to not change how I am eating yet, but count the calories that I am eating over the next 1-2 weeks, and then work on cutting them back to the 500 (less, not to eating only 500 lol). Of course he suggested eating veggies (bleh) but mostly stressed cutting out sugar as much as possible. So my plan is to slowly cut the calories back like he said, work out as much as I can, be lower carb (but not strict low carb yet). We'll see how that goes. He also upped my dose of Ozempic even though he said the one I was on was already considered a high dose. He found it strange that it didn't make me less hungry or anything. Maybe the next dose will, but I doubt it. I only feel less hungry when I eat very low carb. I am just glad that my labs were better this time. No, not perfect but better....

Cutting on calories is the only "diet" that always worked for me. I have to eat what I like, so removing carbs never worked, reducing calories did.

When I cut back calories AND worked out 3 hours a day 7 days a week (not exaggerating) I lost 75 pounds. but that was over 10 years ago now. I shouldn't say I was less busy I was going to college part time back then.

@MommyOfEli2013 - I never exercised, but I love to walk and I walk every day from 8,000 to 12,000 steps.

@LadyDuck walking is exercise....especially with that many steps. I loathe walking. so if I am going to work out it will be something different. I did kickboxing and dancing when I lost 75 pounds.

Reducing calories can help a lot. Glad your numbers are better

well if I was already cutting them to the 1,200 I wouldn't be able to reduce them much. However, I tracked today and was at almost 2,000 calories, yeah no wonder why I gained. But I don't over eat by that much every single day.

Not so sure about good, but was not as bad as I thought. Now we'll just see if I can lose some weight by next time. Should have asked how much I should be able to lose if I eat 500 cals less and workout. Oh well, we'll just be surprised...

@MommyOfEli2013 It's hard to know how much you will lose until you start eating less.

@just4him I guess so. That's going to be a struggle, to eat less...

I'm glad your A1c results were better. Maybe you can gradually reduce your caloric intake.

I am too, though it is still too high. It is going to have to be gradual, maybe like 100 calories a week or something. And I should work out, but I don't want to lol
