It's Charlie Chaplin's Birthday

Not everyone will remember Charlie Chaplin, but I recall watching a lot his silent films at my favorite pizza place in Monterey, California when I was stationed there in the army. They had wonderful pizza and ran silent films that Chaplin made along with some great Laurel & Hardy films. Chaplin was born in England on this day in 1899 and died on Christmas day in 1977. You can see many scenes from his films on YouTube.

I remember his films and his humor James. Very unique kind of guy. I heard some things about him too, just don't remember what exactly.

@RebeccasFarm Oh, his personal life. He married three teen aged girls and was involved in a paternity suit, accused of having communist sympathies, many things.

@JamesHxstatic since reading and commenting on your post I have found out that although it is believed that he was born in London he actually was born in Smethwick in the Black Country, just a few miles from where I live. His Mother Hannah was descended from a travelling family which is why they were in Smethwick at the time of his birth.

We had a pizza parlor in the town where I grew up that also played those old silent comedies. I remember Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, the Keystone Kops, and others.
