I remember my first job

My nephew broke his new smartphone and his mom (my sister)was furious because it wasn’t even fully paid yet. So my nephew said he is going to work part time to save up some money to have his phone fixed. He is only 13, by the way. His mom cut him a deal. He would help sell her baked goods and he would get a commission which he could save up for his phone repair. But for now, he has to be phone-less. Can you remember your first job?

Oh, yes... I got a job working at the school as a janitor for minimum wage when I was 13. I worked two hours a day after school and had to pay one of my brothers to take me home afterward. (I paid him $1 a day for the ride home, which was a big chunk out of my paycheck.) Minimum wage was $2.30 an hour back then.

My first official job was working at my college library when I was sixteen. It was a work study program so it helped pay my college tuition.

I grew up in Texas and my first job was at a supermarket, bagging groceries for 40 cents an hour. At age 15, I was a cashier in that store.

That is very responsible guy to make that promise. It is good that he made an effort to promise to repair his Cellphone and not demand to replace it with a new one.

My first job back then was at Dunkin Donuts. I was so happy with my salary and it was my first time to have money from my own hard work. It was a summer job, I was in college then. When summer was over, I stopped but it was a very wonderful experience having that first job.

Your nephew is a good kid. He knows how to take responsibility for his actions. I hope he would be able to save enough for his phone's repair. We plucked the white hair of my grandparents in elementary school days to earn. 0.10 centavos for each white hair plucked.

@sol_cee In the past maybe medicines were made from natural ingredients so they could still be sold at that time, nowadays there are a lot of chemical ingredients everywhere so we have to pay attention to the amount we consume.

When I was a child I used to take my dad’s lawn mower out of the garage and walk around our neighborhood knocking on doors to ask people if they would hire me to cut their grass. So I guess technically that was my first job. My first real job working for an employer was when I was 14. I worked at a grocery store I worked at that store until I was 18 and then I left to go away to the university to further my education after graduating from high school.
