Where are you going for vacation this year?

My father’s side of the family is originally from an island far away from Davao City. Of course now direct flights are offered but my uncle who is going there for vacation said going to the island by ship is still cheaper. So he embarked on his journey yesterday and he will be arriving there sometime today. Which reminded me of the time I had the same trip with my family. The ship was very big and my sister got seasick. I made friends with another girl and we played with her paper dolls. The bunk beds were cool. The ship purser looked stern. And the food wasn’t that great for my taste. I remember I was looking for some pizza. Lol Have you ever travelled by ship? Photo cracked me up.

We stay home this year, as we did the past few years. I have been on two cruises and we traveled by ship (ferry) from France to the UK.

@sol_cee It was not a short ride, it took almost two hours. UK is an Island I am sure that from the south of your country to Brunei does not take longer.

can’t really believe that it only takes a ferry ride to go from one country to another there

I have been on numerous cruise ships throughout my life. The big ones, with 5000 passengers and 2000 crew. They are like floating cities! I haven’t really planned out any big vacations this year yet. Maybe I can come visit you?

@sol_cee Hey, I have an idea! Since you can’t get a visa to come visit the US, how about you get a job on a cruise ship, and then I’ll book a vacation on that cruise ship so that we can meet and have lots of fun together!

I have travelled by ship a few times back when I was a child and as a teenager. I can't say it's my preferred means of transportation because I get seasick and throw up. But I remember enjoying that one trip by boat going to Tacloban because I saw a lot of flying fish. We might fly to Davao City by September. My husband was born there.

@sol_cee yup. my father-in-law attends his alumni homecoming at St. Peter's College in Toril every 2 or 3 years. He's 85 now so we'll have to accompany him by plane.

I just had a trip to palawan weeks ago. We first went to Underground River and then to El Nido too. It was a short vacay tour since we only availed of the long weekend last June 12. it was a bit late for summer outing but I think we just got there in time since the weather was not so hot and it was raining too but we generally enjoyed it there.

@sol_cee True, I missed the sea so much that when the opportunity comes during our island-hopping tour I swam and snorkel and dipped myself. The views were magnificent inside and out. Whether you look underwater or up the views were just amazingly awesome.

The photo and the caption are perfect! I thought it was a small boat in the ocean. I've never been on a boat or ship trip. I guess I would be seasick as I often get nauseous even during bus trips. I may go to Baguio or just spend the vacation here in the city. This would depend if my sister invites me or not.

Yes, I traveled to Romblon. The big ships are okay but the one docking to Batangas, they give me a bit of sea sickness because of the strong current there

Is that the boat that goes to Puerto Galera? Gosh, I don't know how I managed to ride that for like 4 times. I probably won't do it ever again because of the huge waves that we encountered last time.

We did a cruise on Queen Mary II and it was very enjoyable. I absolutely loved the food. I'm not quite so keen on small boats - but they don't have to be as big as the Queen Mary either. lol

The only time I travelled by sea was in a sailboat owned by my best friend. I was prepared to be seasick but I wasn´t. We had fun. I was told there would be mosquito but that year they went elsewhere. We made our own food. This year I will not go anywhere.
