How safe are expired eggs?

August 16, 2023 2:51am CST
I am talking about eggs on the shelf with expired dates but they are not smelling and have not become rotten. someone say it will still be safer to fry or boil them but they should not be consumed raw. Do you think eggs that have not become rotten can still be fried or boiled or processed with any other kind of heating without contacting any form of disease?

I was going to mention the water in the bowl trick, but @DaddyEvil has already done so. It’s a tried and true method.

If they still seem safe to eat then go with it - food will not instantly decay as the 'recommende' expiry date arrives. They are being cautious and obviously if there are problems then, the seller/manufacturer are not responsible for the consequences.

@ogbenishyna it can be understated for insurance purposes - a lot of perfectly edible food gets thrown out over it - if in doubt get rid but if it seems ok it usually is

Do you think the expiry date are sometimes exaggerated? Maybe the food will eventually expire few weeks after the date.

Malaysia eggs do not last long. Before expired date, can smell the eggs rot and the whites are watery. No way to consume them
