HI peoples! How’s everyone here? I miss my myLot friends and I can’t wait to catch up with everybody. As for me, I’m back to working again. And one cool thing we did in our school recently was to have this Oxford University Language program. Our Japanese students had online lessons with Oxford University teachers and I got to sit in, observe, and give my feedback. One of the professors talked about the many kinds of British accents and did some of them in class. It was so fun distinguishing Scouse accent from Northern Welsh from Lancashire and many more. I admit I have a hard time understanding British accent more than American accent. But the activity was such a hit! After the class, I couldn’t help myself but speak with a little bit of the breathy British accent. Lol In my dreams. Haha Is there anybody here from Great Britain?

Hello. I wondered when you'd remember myLot and the people here. Speaking with different accents can be fun and entertaining.

@sol_cee Hello! Nope, you haven't missed it yet. I turn 60 in October of this year. Not much has changed for me. Still waiting to talk to a judge about getting my disability started. (I talk to the judge on October 31st and the judge has a month after that to make a ruling in my case.) Pretty was hired by the state to assist me with certain things around the house; cooking food, cleaning, washing dishes, shopping and getting my meds on time when my eyes swell shut. She's paid for two hours a day to do those things for me. How are you and your family doing? Anything new with you?

@DaddyEvil you'll be turning 60? Nooo, I thought you're just 50 or something. Hope the judge's ruling is in your favor. But what does getting your disability started mean?

I look forward to what those from Great Britain share here since we definitely have them. I was watching a documentary style medical show from Great Britain, and they had to put subtitles up. Not for every person, but a few accents were hard to understand. But hey, a different documentary style medical show was done in America, and when they interviewed a guy from deep Georgia, they had to put subtitles up then too.

I completely missed this post!! How have you been? That's great you're working again ! It's hard to distinguish all the different Brit accents, right? I had a friend explain about one where the H is not pronounced in words - Cockney I think it was.

America, I fear, is losing many of its regional accents due to television, social media, and our highly mobile society.

No I am a native of Panama who lived in the former Canal Zone. It is interesting to pronounce English speaking words with a British accent.

There are several users from the UK. I understand a lot better English than American English, because this is what we studied in school, my professor was from Manchester.

@sol_cee Professor who taught us languages had to be of mother language. I am glad, because foreign professors always have an accent.

@LadyDuck that makes sense. But nowadays in some countries, non-native English speakers can teach the subject

@sol_cee my nieces are teaching there in UK and they're here now at home with their kids. It's hard to understand their accent. They were born there.
